Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

What happens when you are replaced on LTD?

I just got a letter stating that my job was filled due to my absence, and I will need to reapply when I return. Is that the same as a layoff? Any insight appreciated. Thank you.

@a4 are you sure two years is the max Ltd now. I know someone who got it 4 years back and was still on it a year ago since they were under 67

@OP, it's not the same as being laid off. Granted, your employment has been terminated like a layoff, but you won't receive severance. Instead, you will continue to get the LTD payments until the LTD end-date, which is up to 2 years max (but this also accounts for the 6 months on STD, so essentially, you can remain on STD for 6 months and then another 18 months (24 total months) so long as your medical documentation warrants you still being on disability. Once that timeframe is up, you stop receiving pay, but you won't receive severance after that, as you are effectively terminated due to your FMLA running out, which they are legally allowed to do. During this time, while you still receive disability payments under LTD, you are no longer considered an employee of the company.
