Has anyone returned to the company after a layoff? It’s been a few years since I was let go, so interested to see if anyone has comeback and what their experience was like. I’ve realized the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. I’m also aware that the company is still going through layoffs so it may not be an ideal time to come back.

Turning these threads into a joke is cr-ppy and disrespectful to those of us who are "outgoing" or have "gone" due to Mr. Price's firm being overtaken by human-shaped moral black holes, whose moral compasses are all stuck on "whatever benefits me right now". Real lives are being messed up here. There are people who were let go last year whose Linkedin pages still show "Open to work". The job market su-ks, and tough choices are having to be made by great former employees, who would have gladly learned new roles for the chance to stay. Please don't be like the empty shells running this company. Don't succumb to the tendency to view human beings as mere objects.
@OP depends on which unit? Gotsa weird vibe to it now. Some groups more crazy than others. Some countries worse than others.
Apparently boomeranging is in vogue and a lot of the larger tech giants and consulting firms actively seek former employees for the obvious reasons - familiarity with organisation, less time to get up to speed with teams, knowledge of product, processes, etc, and they bring newfound industry and competitor experience.
Something tells me though that T. Rowe can’t attract back star talent that has left. Good players will find good teams and not want to come back to a bad team.
I wouldn’t suggest coming back to TRP. There will be more layoffs and the culture has changed tremendously.
I'm out of there end of July. I would never come back. I feel betrayed, sold out, and back stabbed by my boss. It is a sick culture anyway, and their goal is to have everyone in 4 days a week if not more once "room is created" by shifting so many jobs to offshore. I don't know what your role is/was, but remember you are sc--wed if you have VDI/laptop issues as the Helpdesk and now Global Desktop is heading to Accenture. Ethically any company that would do what they are doing would preclude them from any consideration in my book. No judgement from me though - if you have to feed kids or need to return there for any reason like that do what you need to do. These people are snakes. Force DEI and "Collaboration"/In Office down all of our throats, but then only hire people from India/Philippines who work 5 days remote. At least they will be warm in the afterlife I guess.
@OP sounds like you’ve been approached to come back but are worried about job security? Wrong question, worry about culture! This place is a he-l hole with multiple red flags. By all means if your current employer is worse, then sure consider the offer to come back.
