Laid off today - within business ops

Few of us were laid off today. Given 2 weeks notice and severance.

@ae Can't speak to the current cycle, but I was part of the 2023 layoffs. At that time, severance included the amount that Centene would have paid toward my health insurance if I were an employee. It came as a second payment over and above the 6-months severance (I was there for many years).

Same boat. 6+ years - always above & beyond performer. Reorg last year and new director only wants yes - peole. Cannot handle someone that questions his processes. Making space for his people. Severance us weak and insulting. Worked at company previously bought out and received much nicer severance with way less years in also given covea for 1 year at employee price. Looks like my family & I will be unisured if don’t find something by end of Feb. Centene was a great plave to work but 2025 (big beautiful bill) has upended it

@qv The only WellCare staff driving anything at Centene are in Finance. Well, now that I say that, you might have a point.

@ae I believe the paperwork said insurance is extended until the end of the month that your last day is. My last day is 2/6, so I’m assuming insurance will last till the end of February.

At least the nervous waiting is over…
Since Michael Neighdorf died, the company has been run by the legacy WellCare staff and we we’ve been run into the ground. Staff size cut in half but still expected to keep up with the volume, working more over time…. And the last insult was sending our work overseas. I really liked working for Centene, but it’s no longer Centene…it’s WellCare 2.0. Good luck to my fellow parolees and will pray for those who remain. Love you guys!

Just COBRA is a miserable policy for an insurance company. You think they’d even offer some discounted rate on Obamacare or something like that. Had a family member laid off from a different company last year in financial services and received medical for 1 year at the normal employee biweekly rate.

Did severance include an extension of medical benefits for any period of time?
