Has anyone here worked somewhere else and seen worse internal politics than this? The environment is the next level of toxic, with some managers yelling at people all the time like it's normal. I've worked in tough places before, but this one stands out in a bad way.

@c7 in Digital GPs definitely yell trust me.
My first ever DL screamed at people on the regular, as did his peer in an adjacent area. They were known for it. I'm not saying it was right, but these guys were also straight sho-ters that told it like it was. They were real. I'd almost have that back at this point rather than the fake ChatGPT nonsense and hungry, humble, hustle bullsh-t we're subjected to now. One Edward Jones? Human centered? Give me a break. I'm done with the constant fakeness.
@wd sounds like GPs in my area. Depends on those resources to make any decisions. He has zero experience and skills.
@v7 My boss's boss said he uses ChatGPT to write all of his emails. I told him we can tell and pointed out the obvious signs. He seemed confused why anyone would have issue with it and I told him depending on the context of the email, it comes across as he doesn't care enough about us to express his own thoughts. I no longer work at Edward Jones.
@ne my GP proudly claims that he gets guidance from chat gpt. Gp level should be AI’d.
@ne and with leaders “leading” 3x the amount of people now it makes it that much more difficult to get to know everyone. Leaders are not equipped or teams right-sized appropriately.
@ne So true. My leader doesn't even know my background or if I have children.
@OP It's sad to say Edward Jones culture is gone. There is no midwest homeland anymore. It's all about who can make their mark and money. What happened to getting to know your associates on a personal level? Asking what are your strengths, experience and where do you want to be in 5 years or on your career journey with Edward Jones. It's all business and that's it. I've never been so disappointed in the approach Edward Jones took when communicating VSP and ISP to associates. What makes it more comical is the GP/leaders struggle to provide the message. If you can't provide a difficult message why are you in a GP role?
I have been at EDJ way longer than 10 years and yes I have seen people get yelled at by leaders. It is happening. Also people have went to HR and nothing was done about it.
With the announcement of more ISPs coming, I now have a few managers at Stifel who would bring me back once a spot opens. I worked there for about nine years and still miss it, and it was always telling how new hires from Edward Jones were almost shell shocked by being treated like adults instead of being micromanaged nonstop.
Yes, I used to work at Wells Fargo... it is far worse...
Not saying no one gets yelled at, but the more common theme at EJ is TLs smiling in your face and stabbing you in the back.
@c7 Just because it hasn’t happened to you, doesn’t mean others are lying.
Why do people come on here and lie?? I’ve never had a single person yell at me in 10 years and you haven’t either. The leaders are largely incompetent, not hostile. Come on for goodness sakes!
@bz You go to HC you will be fired not too long after.
@ak Associate Relations is there to identify someone who may be or become an issue and to protect the company. The only way to do something is to talk to Penny and the ELT yourself. I never see Penny in the cafe anymore, but I do see KJ often. I think I will approach her with my ideas.
From my experience, none of my leaders that I have had yell at any of us team leaders or our associates. I have heard some department leads get “in trouble” but even then don’t seem like yelling. If I were you go to Human Capital or HR.
@OP Yes and it's only going to get worse. It's only just begun.
@OP , if leaders are yelling at you or anyone else, go to Associate Relations. Nobody should be working in that type of environment.
@OP absolutely yes! While bad this place doesn’t even compare to other places!
