Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Hiring freeze

Why aren't we backfilling any positions? I'm talking about desperately needed people for us to be able to function normally. Is there a hiring freeze I don't know about?

@ab If shareholders are unhappy, they sell shares. If shares continue to be sold, value decreases. Board members look to executives that are supposed to be making the company more profitable. Executives brainstorm in an effort to figure out how to do that and sometimes the workers are the ones that are the answer, Labor and benefits aren't cheap. It's a vicious loop.

@ab they are shortsighted! How can they make shareholders satisfied without qualified workers

All I know is we've been in a hiring freeze since 2023 and only absolutely needed jobs are ever backfilled. Cigna wants employees to leave so they can increase revenue and provide shareholders more value. That's all that Cigna cares about, Shareholders.

Be patient. It takes time to identify the right candidates at HIH.
