these large corporations can bring a lot of money to court cases
plus the politicians and fudges probably get a lot of campaign money from them
one way or another

it a david and goliath situation
the government is supposed to be on your side but it is not

I reached out to a few law firms back in 2023 when I was laid off who had in the past been involved in suing IBM for age discrimination. However I didn’t get enough interest from a law firm willing to work on a contingency basis to forgo the separation package by not signing it. My view was if they weren’t willing to work on contingency then they don’t think it’s worth their time to fight it for whatever settlement offer may be made (and I sure as he-l wasn’t going to pay a lawyer by the hour for them not to have skin in the game for trying their best to produce results)

They signed the right to sue away. But it’s not legally enforceable in the courts.

IBM does settle for age discrimination law suits quietly. It is bad publicity.
