Thread regarding Global Payments Inc. layoffs

For those who quit, what was your final two weeks like?

I'm getting closer to landing a new job and I'm curious about the exit process. Did you give the standard two-week notice, and what did that period involve? I’m mostly interested in what the company required you to do during that time, like any handover tasks, exit interviews, or system access changes.

When i put in my notice i was ecstatic. My boss was cool and said he would have quit if he was me.
Hr sent me an exit survey. I refused to answer it. Them I split two-weeks later. Glad to never look back.

It will depend on your roll, manager and current workload. I’ve seen people give notice and due to their elevated access they are walked out and locked out. But this was in the old days of TSYS. Make sure you have everything off your laptop and drives before you give it. No telling how they may act. Congratulation on the new job!! I’m quite jealous. :)

Having overseen or observed a lot of these over the past few years it's going to depend on your manager. But you're not obligated to sit for an exit interview. To avoid burning a bridge give your notice, be flexible and be professional. Some managers will respect your decision others will throw a tantrum. I've received calls from headhunters doing reference checks on my past employees even though I wasn't listed as a reference. So leave assuming you always want people to say good things about your professionalism.

If you ever plan to possibly go back give notice. It is the professional thing to do. If not for the company at least for your co workers.

@ap I was part of the big August 2024 layoff. I am still hurt about it because after 18 yrs there I was actually now starting to grow and progress and learn new things in my career. I had a mainframe developer background and I had finally gotten a chance to be mentored in the modernization languages and technologies. I worked my tail off to get that job. Did alot of studying in my spare time and udemy classes only to get ny job sent to india. I hate global payment and it sounds like fis is the same. I was never able to get another developer job again. The companies give those jobs to indians only. And it has to be an indian from india.

You don't owe them anything. You are just a number to them. Say your goodbyes to your friends and leave.

@OP when I gave my 2 week notice, my boss was pi---d. He actually collected my belongings and told me no problem, I was free to go home. I handed him my laptop and badge and left .This was the day after the big layoff in August 2024. I wasnt sticking around for the fallout. Never looked back.
