Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Thanks for everything

After over 2 decades at T, I got hit by a surplus back in 2022. I was lucky enough to land at Verizon shortly after, and I've been loving it.

I hope and pray that doesn't come to an end on Friday. But if it does, I just want to thank everyone. These last couple of years have been, without a doubt, the best of my professional life. I've had a couple of great bosses, and coworkers that can only be described as awesome.

To those who get hit on Thursday, you and your loved ones will be in my thoughts.

To those that remain, I have nothing but the upmost confidence that you'll continue to knock it out of the park, each and every day.

Best of luck to all

@OP I am in almost the same situation. Was at T for over 17 years, then several years here.

Was better than T initially but eventually saw the same pattern of bad decisions being made at senior mgt levels and above.
Honestly both places had mostly good employees.

Hopefully you were pension eligible at T and got to that 20 year spike. They got me before I reached that point.

@a2 I know you're probably right. But this job is legit fun. I never know what it'll be one day to the next. One moment, just routine CSR configs, the next a DWDM outage, after that running jumpers and testing new circuits.

We get the best toys and tools to play with, and you can see your impact on the business in real time. Coming from a desk-based L1 transport tech support job, it's been such a breath of fresh air. Honestly, it's been a dream job. I just hope I don't have to wake up Thursday

Time to try something different. After 20+ years in Telecom your career stagnates.

You'll be positively surprised what else is out there. Good luck!
