I began my career at ITT. That was a giant. L3 couldn't shine the shoes of ITT. When ITT spun off its defense business into Exelis which was acquired by Harris who then merged with L3.
I remember when L3HARRIS made public relations posters taking credit for programs ITT had for 4 decades, implying (lying) that their "scientists" had invented them!
L3HARRIS is a fake. Chris Kubasik is a disgraced LM CEO wannabe who got fired for dipping his pen in the company ink well .
@n7 we all know that but will the government realize it before awarding major contracts where l3 will sh*t the bed, overrun and deliver a subpar product? Assuming l3 can even get passed the development stage lol. Who's gonna design it? The Sr people they've already laid off? Or the college intern with chat gpt
@OP I've worked for a true prime and I've worked for L3Harris. I can tell you L3Harris is a pretender.
It ended when one or more hedge funds bought controlling interests in stock after Frank Lanza died.
Under his leadership, a percentage of local site funds (most were somewhat autonomous back then) were allowed to be invested in future technology & products. As long as they made their numbers, the parent company only took a percentage and mostly left them alone. Then financial engineering came into play after he died and the GE management mindset took over.
The site I worked for no longer exists, but we took pride in what we did, and the products we made in the Aero business were pretty good. But the new-wave just HAD to get rid of standing-on-their-own-feet business capabilities. I'd guess the quality went to the dumpster since only a small number of employees moved with the site breakup.
L 3 was never and will never be a prime defense contractor. They are a cheap, false company that pays subpar wages and , for such a large company, has the worst health insur on the planet . Don't be surprised if the next cost saving effort is to sc--w retirees out of their benefits. We all need to reach out to our elected leadership in Congress and regardless of party, stop spending tax payers money on this terrible company . They rip off customers, tax payers and their own employees. I worked in that organization for 20 years. Fraud is a way of life there
They are criminals.
