Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

I think we might have blown this out of proportion

Yes, there will be cuts, but I don’t think it will be as bad as everyone expects. This feels like one of those situations where the story keeps growing the more it is repeated, while the truth is probably closer to where it started.

@aj Do you think this message will be EOD today at this point?

@aj if this isn’t true later I’m sending you a Venmo request for a beer you owe me.

@aj yep, I can verify this as well. I know people are trying to be optimistic, but if you don’t know anything maybe don’t post and get people’s hopes.

@aj what is 10%? of in person (actual people), or a combo of open HC, actual people in MPLS, and remote?

Not blown out of proportion. Likely the opposite.

@OP wrong. It will be 10% of hq. Work from home message will be sent out later today instructing everyone to work from home Tuesday. Very very very reputable source unfortunately 😢

BC is going to trim the fat before he leaves so that Fiddelke gets a fresh start and has room to grow his priorities. BC started the job with a huge round of layoffs. He's saving Fiddelke from having to start the same way.

I truly think this layoff is plausible and getting it over and done with in 2025 and before Q4 makes sense financially. Just my opinion.

Brian lives in Florida and will be CEO till January and will become chairman of the board, highest position in Target.
Impacted remote team member will get 60 days to move. I’m local and prefer working in office, but with growth of TII (5000?) and remote (10%?), I end up on zoom a lot at the office. Hope we don’t lose talent we gathered from outside of MN.

@a8 but the executives don’t even live here. Is shiobhan going to have to move here? Doubt it!

The silver lining is that we haven’t seen the troll posting for a while!

@a8 that’s too bad if true. My org. has a really great VP who is remote, and would very likely not move here. I’d hate to see them go…

In general, I think we’ve lost a lot of great talent with the relocation mandates for remote TMs.

A coworker of mine asked a director in a 1on1. It sounds like there may be some restructuring etc. But the biggest change is that all L7s and up will be asked to relocate to mn. Assuming it’s a soft layoff first. The rumors are a little sensational at this point

There’s clearly some layoffs coming, and next week seems like a good bet. I don’t trust any other information about timing, how many people, how it will be done, etc. because those stories keep changing

I hope you are correct… but I’m still very worried.
