Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

ELV to UST experience so far…

Terrible…
Less benefits…
Less PTOs…
Sweat shoppish management …
Job cuts…
No diversity and that means not a single American in any layer above me or even around me…

Ohh wait that was the similar in ELV IT too.

IT had layers and layers are Indians. Several of them totally not competent by far. Speak English in a weird way with disregard and disrespect to grammar, pronunciation and several times etiquettes. And worst they keep hiring Indians ONLY. How? They bring cheap -ss Indians as contractors and then convert them. Companies like UST are partners in that crime.

They don’t even want to engage with white Americans nor do they want you around. They keep talking to each other in their mambo jambo local language and keep warming smelly food in the kitchen.

yeah damn it, this happening in USA.. not in Bangaladore.

I read this whole thread, I get where it’s going and coming from. I can’t figure out what UST is. It used to be the ticker symbol for United States Tobacco, but they disappeared decades ago. Now it’s the ticker for ProShares Ultra 7-10 Year Treasury ETF, which makes no sense in the context of this thread. UnitedHealth maybe? Where’s the UST from? I’m clueless; fill me in.
Yeah, ELV’s got a tilt in the IT department diversity.

It's not an invasion. It's the greed driven by the culture of this country. We are cooked!

@pa ,The issue was about not having americans around or above. Questioning that statement. oh, Americans mean White Americans?. No one is an American?. This is the racist statement due to which I was asking to stop whining and quit. Else, question the leadership in a public forum on why. I support anyone that is affected irrespective of their skin color. Being racist is not ok

You must be one of those beneficiaries of this sweat shop company milking profits.

Quit? Why quit?
Plus ELV put us out without severance on cheap. So this is a perfect place to whine. You can choose to ignore which you are not obviously because this is important and uncomfortable important in your case. So stay the F out of this

@g8 , If they are taking over a job, either they are more skilled OR equally skilled but willing to work for less OR less skilled but market forces like margins drive them to be hired. Is it not the same with getting cheaper products from a different country and we go buy them?. Aldi is a classic example. Market based economy man. Else do we want to be run by a socialist economy?

@OP , I call this BS on your post. If you work for UST, you can always quit and move on. Assuming you dont have a visa requirement or something stopping you. I thought this forum was for layoffs and not sit and whine. If you have skills move on..

Check your dictionary buddy

Invasion:
an incursion by a large number of people or things into a place or sphere of activity.
"stadium guards are preparing for another invasion of fans"

I’m so fed up with hearing this term Indian invasion. Do you know what an invasion is? It means that a group of people en masse outside of a country are forcibly and illegally coming in against the will of the institutions or people of that country.

Where do you see the 1.5 percent of Indians forcing their way in to ‘steal’ the country’s wealth. American companies are making the CHOICE and have for years thinking it reflects the best interest financially for them.

Call your erroneous term for what it is - a racist talking point that simply aligns with populous sentiments in the country right now.

@dp+1k7wn91tn - Non Americans is the key, not race. Any negativity that presents itself as racism is frustration for having American opportunities given to another country.

If Ireland, was taking 35% of the jobs, then you’ll hear some Irish racism.

100% of management chain especially all the SLT looks alike. Sure looks like takeover to me, and that too using the loopholes in the immigrant visa. I think they hire amongst themselves because their communication skills are marginal and thus they like to talk to each other in their local language which is very annoying and unfair.

The only thing being invaded here is your sense of math. Relax, nobody’s taking over except maybe your spot in STEM. Try learning something.
They are literally just 1.5% of the population.

U.S. Population by Race and Ethnicity (2023 estimates)
(Total U.S. population ≈ 335 million)
• White (Non-Hispanic): 193 million — 57.8%
• Hispanic or Latino (any race): 63 million — 18.8%
• Black or African American (Non-Hispanic): 40 million — 11.9%
• Asian (total): 24.8 million — 7.4%
 • Chinese origin: 5.5 million — 1.6%
 • Indian origin: 4.9 million — 1.5%
 • Filipino origin: 4.4 million — 1.3%
 • Vietnamese origin: 2.2 million — 0.7%
 • Korean origin: 1.9 million — 0.6%
 • Japanese origin: 1.6 million — 0.5%
 • Other Asian origins (Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Thai, Cambodian, etc.): ~4.3 million — 1.3%
• American Indian or Alaska Native: 2.3 million — 0.7%
• Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander: 1.0 million — 0.3%
• Multiracial / Two or More Races: ~33 million — 10%

Ok let’s look at it another way and I work at ELV too.. 36 year old white male …you have every reason to be mad… but
for decades, we have seen corporate America and even our government dominated by one demographic . Lets be honest, for years, white males have largely hired other white males. Just look at the leadership teams of major U.S. corporations or even our Senate, the pattern is clear.

It’s uncomfortable to admit, but hiring often reflects familiarity.
It’s been happening quietly for generations. But they feel like they can relate to one race and feel like that race has the best skillsets, which obviously is not right

But now, when one company hires mostly of a specific race of employees, suddenly there’s outrage. Why the double standard?

If we are going to call out bias, we need to call it out everywhere. Either both are wrong, or both are accepted, we cannot have it both ways. That’s why diversity and inclusion initiatives exist in the first place so we can break this cycle. But when those efforts are introduced, many people resist them too.

But bottom line is, let’s not get nasty to a specific race. We had enough of that during covid.

With all due respect and the caveat that I don’t hate anyone, any race and so on…

I am not UST but I am ELV and work with several of them. Remember that they do make decisions. They are responsible for hiring, since they lead most departments in ELV. As stated by the original poster, the entire management chain is from certain demographics and they keep hiring/ prefer to hire from the same demographics. What is worse is that they have divisions within themselves based on culture n language and they prefer to hire people from same talent pool that looks and talks like them.

It is a real problem. I would reiterate, they do make a difference and they do discriminate against native born Americans. The DPAIO recently hired a fleet of new VPs, and all but one look alike.

We all entitled to our opinions, and these forums exist so we can have meaningful conversations, but lately, I have seen far too many racist comments here.

Let us be real- it is not individuals making the decision to outsource jobs but it the leaders at companies.

The people being targeted are just trying to make a living, support their families, and build a better life, just like all of us. Life is hard.

Attacking someone for their culture, their accent, their food, or simply for being who they are is pitiful and uncalled for. If things were reversed, would we want to face the same hate? It would sadden me.
Change is necessary but not by targeting a certain demographic. They aren’t making the decisions.

We need to do better as humans. Just because some administrations normalize division doesn’t mean we have to follow that path. We have our own minds, our own empathy, and the choice to treat others with respect.
We won’t win if we behave like this.
