Comments here are accurate. Vale slapped Monish - who absolutely deserved it - and they rolled out past indiscretions to wrap things up. I knew Vale well and he was a decent man, however lacking in creativity and market awareness. Monish was a total a$$hole who te--orized the company. Multiple SVPs / VPs / Directors expressed to me how much they hated him. MR brought in Monish because he failed in talking to Wall Street bros and needed a father figure. Saw this up close. Very unfortunate what happened with Vale - threw himself under the bus.

Rumor is he took a swing at someone I’d guess who tested him about his black belt training days behavior.
Vale should never have been fired. He was the most visionary leader this company has had since Lewis Lehr. Clearly office politics and palace intrigue by a few people vying for the top spot (who have since been deposed by BB) led to this coup.
Look out if he's hired as CEO of a 3M competitor. He will have fire in his belly to smote 3M for its backstabbing.
