Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Is there anyway to learn if you're 'black balled' by the company?

I was laid off in 2023, and despite applying to several jobs I'm qualified at T-Mo, I'm not getting called back. I've written the HR rep (that I previously connected with while employed) and she is not responding.

Is there anyway to learn what your standing is with the company? I was there a long time, and I'm feeling shunned now...

I had 700 people apply to an open role and 600 of them are qualified. Not everyone is going to get a call back

If you were in good standing when you were laid off ( not on a pip, sub par performance review, etc) you should be eligible for rehire.

It could be the sheer volume of applicants applying for the roles causing you and others to get lost in the shuffle.

MY advice, for future roles, run the JD and your resume through chat GPT- ask am I a fit for this role? If you were the recruiter what do you need to see in my resume to offer an interview? What keywords do I need to add? Etc….

Do you have a relationship with anyone in the company? Someone who can reach out directly on your behalf to the recruiter and hiring manager?

Standard point and click application techniques from a few years ago won’t work in today’s job market.

Also consider consulting to get the door and then work to flip yourself to FTE.

@a3 Correct, the "rehire" field is a workday thing. HR fills it out for layoffs.

@a3 Hopefully you don't get sued by one of their numbskull lawyers from a 3rd party firm they pay millions to do their dirty work. Like Perkins Coie.

I did research on this a few weeks ago. Supposedly each file has a Y/N field, “eligible for rehire?” I believe employees are entitled to see their employee record (might be based on state law). What I don’t know is whether Blacklists/Do Not Hire lists get transferred into individual employee records, or if they exist as a separate check later.

Based on my state law (ask ChatGPT about yours), I sent this to the HR contacts I had. No response yet. After 21 days I’ll follow up:

Dear Human Resources Team,

I am requesting a complete copy of my personnel file, pursuant to Washington State law RCW 49.12.240.

Please include:

  • All documents in my personnel file (evaluations, job descriptions, disciplinary records, performance records, informal notes, eligible/ineligible for rehire status, identities of contributors to the file records, etc.)
  • Copies of any signed documents related to my employment
  • A written statement of the effective date of my separation and any reason for discharge and/or “ineligible for rehire” status (if applicable).

I am a former employee; please provide the records within 21 calendar days, as required by current law (amended and strengthened as of July 25, 2025). You may send the documents to:
