Thread regarding CDW layoffs

Why are there suddenly job postings on LinkedIn for jobs that were eliminated last month?

I just had a former CDW coworker let me know that the jobs of a few people who were let go in July are now posted on LinkedIn. These were longer-term coworkers who were making a clear and critical impact for CDW who were let go--all of them in their late 40s/early 50s.

And now CDW tries to rehire for those jobs?

I see a lawsuit in CDW's future.

@OP they are hiring through LinkedIn NOT from CDW’s job board to hide what they are doing. They are hiring contractors offering them no benefits or direct hire path. They are paying them less than the traditional contractors are paid in each role. Result = people leaving as soon as they actually learn the job for something better and lower quality co workers. Both of these results mean those working at CDW will be working even harder as they have to training the revolving door of new workers and will be told they should be happy because more people have been added to their teams and they said they were over worked. “saving” money on staff will cost 💲 and good employees

The move is to hire contractors from overseas to replace a lot of people that were laid off. The other business model is to hire contractors directly instead of through staffing firms, these new contractors will have lower salaries, and in many cases, no benefits, such as healthcare. Enjoy your new coworkers.

CDW has no business plastering its logo anywhere. You cannot even keep offices clean for the so-called top talent, yet you claim the right to the Olympic contract? Shameful. You cut jobs, then rehire under different titles for less money, and bring in those new to the country, desperate to work, paying them pennies. We are treated like human sacrifice to satisfy shareholders. Why must workers be punished when targets are missed? When does this endless hunger for money stop? The corruption starts at the top and spreads unchecked, because the company is rotten inside. If shareholders knew half of what happens here! The shady practices, the illegal maneuvers and such would they still be proud to hold CDW stock?

@bk Rats in a factory? Really? Take a stroll through certain CDW offices after hours. The scratching in the walls is real, the droppings in desk drawers and kitchens are real too. The infestation isn’t just a metaphor. All that money for shareholders, all those layoffs and the office is still in that state? Clean up your factory first before bragging about strength. BRING IT.

@vd My fear is they got rid of so much experience and expertise, and replaced it with people who are not experienced in the industry that the stock price rise will be incredibly slow and painful.

But like you, I am just looking to move on.

I saw that in like November or December when my old job was reposted for a fraction of what I was being paid. Either someone internal was being moved into my old role or they found someone to do it for 1/2 the money I was being paid. I figured I was simply the corporate version of an NFL cap cut at that point. I've pretty much moved on and I am waiting for the stock price to rebound so I can be done with CDW completely.

@a8 Fu-k you. Laying off experienced higher paid coworkers and replacing them with younger cheaper noobs is both short sighted and illegal. T hi is has nothing to do with performance or right sizing - it’s all about cutting payroll while the CSuite jets around to premier sporting events we “sponsor.”

FYSA, "violent agreement" describes a situation where people arguing intensely actually agree on the core issue but are slow to realize it due to different viewpoints or communication styles. @ad You and I violently agree on this. The majority of middle managers are slinking around CDW like a disease and they are trained and skilled at kissing a-s and saving their own necks. Many of them are the very crybabies on this board, shivering between layoffs and breathing collective sighs of relief when they run over their own teams and subsequently aren’t cut because quite literally zero of our competition would hire them. They are the joke of the industry. Ask anyone.

The CDW crybaby brigade is out in force again on this thread. Listen to yourselves. If you get cut yet you are supposedly so high value, you shouldn’t be worried about landing. But you are terrified because you’re the same sad bi--hes that complain about low CDW pay yet continue to show up at CDW as you can’t work anywhere else that’s decent. Face it, you’re low-caliber, cowardly talent who learned how to hide rly good in a big inefficient machine. Like rats at a factory, you will make a mess wherever you go. @a8 you want to check your stats I know of several in ITS that were let go that had been top performers for many years, yet overcrowding of unnecessary middle management (VP's, Directors, and even down to the manager level) basically remains untouched.

This is the way.......

@OP I don't know why people are confused. This proactive layoff was executed to remove weakness in the business. It was data driven on performance contribution metrics, some published some not. Did some dolphins get caught in the proverbial tuna net? Unfortunately yes. Will there be more RIFS to optimize the herd? Please yes. Especially bad managers and worthless leaders. We need a reboot there. Do these moves ultimately strengthen the company and make it better, safer, stronger for the rest of us? 100% Yes. I know this is a very unpopular thing to say on this board but it's the truth.

I noticed that another one of the managers in CDW Education just left as well. This guy was well respected by his staff and had a solid background prior to coming to CDW a few years ago. Unfortunately he found himself being forced to report to a boomeranged director that came back late summer 2022, the same guy that had. Left CDW twice before, PK, that ta-f despise, so now we're stuck having to intersect with this autocrat on the spectrum. A few of us met virtually earlier today and basically most of the Product Management Team and SAAS Team are looking to exit stage left rather than having to report to this ja----s directly.
