Gorgon is already in trouble for turtle harassment. And the blind gudgeon fish are up in arms.
I thought Gorgon has endangered species critters that need to be monitored for negative impact to their environment. I hope the critters get treated with respect.
Maybe the CCS people can work on the leaks since they can't get their sylvesteration project to work. Stopping methane leaks would actually have a greater GHG impact than squeezing a bit of CO2 into the ground.

Per the articles on the topic, it looks like the gas leak is related to legacy oil production on the island (where they've drilled ~900 wells over the past 60 years). It has little to do with the Gorgon project.
For better or worse, gas leaks happen with onshore oil development. They'll chase some old P&As and remediate the issue. Life will move-on.
Wo hard to predict. over 1000 straws and a fault that is known to leak surface. Technical competence left Chevron a long time ago. Thankfully with our new factory approach we can d-mb it down further and outsource overseas. This is a good change as we will pay much less for incompetence.
@a2 "Accountability" is the latest buzz word in the company. Considering that all that is left in CVX management are clueless weasels, they will attempt to outsource the accountability so that it won't stain their precious image. Accountability in CVX only works for credit not detriments.
@OP For the uninformed, can you elaborate on the unfixable gas leak? Anything in life can be fixed if you throw enough money at it.....
