Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

How many Shell folks in IT regularly do Leetcode and study system design?

Anyone in Shell doing it to find their next IT role?

Leetcode = website that allows practice of algorithm like programming questions.

System design = close view of how major companies run large systems.

@6sc someone did a presentation on it about two years ago in a python meet-up at Shell. Some people know. Majority does not

why would anyone do that other than to pass a job interview?

job interviews now have mostly moved to in person talks on design. that leet code stuff is for meta and amazon only at this point. even netflix and google don’t do it.

if you think it will help you solve problems at shell better (unlikely) or interview better (unlikely) then do it. otherwise your time is better spent on ai systems and libraries which don’t really have a cache of interview questions to grind yet. learn by doing.
