@7v8 I suspect North America won't resume until after the dust settles in EMEA. Possibly in Jan or after, but just a guess.

And believe me, it could be worse. At a former employer, a large tech firm once regarded as a "best place to work" a whole team of 20+ engineers were laid off over Christmas break.

There was no announcement, we only found out when we saw their empty cubicles. I left a few years later and they tried to rehire. I politely declined.

Has anyone heard of additional layoffs planned for October/November?

RIF after 14.9 years of loyalty. Gone in a 15 min meeting disguised as a “status update”. I’m in 40+ protected group so will get 2 months until separation. What’s also interesting is that severance used to be 4 + 2 and now it is 4 + 1. Think that changed a few years ago.

I was rif’ed 8/13, same scenario as others. Last day 9/22. I was part of Sun acquisition so I’ve been through many layoffs but none as deep and almost doge like. Support Mgr/Director position.

This is weird! I was in the Oracle RIF on 8/12…and all the same, laptop off right way, etc.
But… I was also given until 9/22
I feel this group should have been later date.

@13n funny how they give their public sector business to salesforce every single time. Funny that uncle larry is a major salesforce stock holder so he wins by gaining and losing the same customers. Funny how the SEC is fine with this.

Just got RIF after 10 years. Dedication and hard work means nothing to the bottom line. Good luck to those impacted.

It could be connected to earnings. If they cut a lot of positions, they could state how much give a better guidance in the coming earnings call.

@je It might just be a bandwidth issue. The current layoffs won't affect the bottom line of the quarterly results coming on Sept 8. It's going to cost O a bit of money to fire people in some regions.

What remains true is that ORCL needs to hit the ball out of the park. Safra seemed very confident three months ago that was in the bag. We will find out soon.

If layoffs are expected in October and not September, it is because they know the earnings won't beat the market. Earnings are expecting middle of September.

They submitted these WARN notices on Aug 13/14. They may have been for people notified that week, but with a termination date in October.

It says "The layoffs are set to take effect in mid-October 2025.". I think the September layoffs will be effective in October.
