@5xjg, I’m not too confident the company or management always puts their best foot forward. But, if you are a longterm employee wanting to retire and grab a nice severance check on the way out, by all means raise your hand now. Trying to wait them out to see if they lay you off may backfire on you. HR and some management folks may have a good idea of your desire to retire and these jealous pr!cks can roll you under the bus by retaining you. This of course upsets many an employee who end up leaving soon after in disgust, thus saving the company some severance money. If you really are prepared to retire, choose to EOI now.

Every day from now til the lay-offs, my goal is to do zero work so that I am getting money for nothing. Since it is impossible to get fired, zero is attainable.

Some international BU’s do pay enhanced severance packages ie greater than the minimum dictated by those countries employment laws. I have never heard of any US BU’s paying enhanced packages, maybe some do but never heard of any.

I don't know man! They usually put their best foot forward at first. The payoff is usually better in the beginning and only gets worse with time.

If you have something you have been considering. (maybe starting your own business) Now is the time to move.

I don’t know, @4twq. Only 6 weeks additional severance pay if you raise your hand in the next week, just for them to cut you loose a month later in April? That doesn’t sound too enticing. Let’s figure this out mathematically. I think it’s more profitable to stay put at my desk and wait for management to decide within 3+ months if get laid off or they give me a job somewhere else. It’s a safer bet that you’d be paid more than 6 weeks of extra pay if you just sit at your desk and wait on management to decide your fate. Raise your hand and you cut your own throat.

AMBU is offering an additional 6 weeks to the standard VSP. You must decide before March and you are paid out till April.

Is there a transition period that they continue to pay you after your last day on the job if you take a severance? Seems like maybe 6 weeks.

AMBU employees that stay thru transition will either be placed or receive enhanced package,

Has an enhanced package been offered to AMBU? If not, then when?

With AMBU divestment, enhanced severance will be offered to those, primarily in MCBU, who make EOI, to make room for certain AMBU stationed employees, in certain departments.

My EOI was accepted 5 years ago as part of Alpha within ETC. Severance then was 2 weeks pay per year of service up to maximum of 1 year of pay. Since pay is directly related to PSG I can see why some posters are saying severance is based on PSG... but it really is just whatever your current pay is. I would be surprised if severance was going to be any different in the future. Business need determines which SBUs and service groups participate in any severance programs.

I’m surprised none of this has shown up in the media already. A 140 year old American company allowing every US employee to volunteer to be laid off seems like a headline for someone.

What do you mean by "enhanced severance"? I suppose if that refers to more payout than a typical severance package than you would be wrong. There was no indication of that anywhere. Dreamers can dream all that they want, no harm there. It is so wrong that even the moderators took most of the bizarre estimate comments down on this thread. And severance has always been based on your salary, which is proportional to PSG. No secret or news there.

Chevron does not want the work "layoffs" in the media. There will be enhanced severance for those expressing EOI. This will be communicated before the March 3 analysts meeting.

EOI is not going to be based on PSG. It is not going to be enhanced. It is going to be exactly what they said, and at this point it is 2 weeks of severance for every year of service given.

Anyone can raise their hand, but that does not mean you’ll get it. If they think your position is to critical they will keep you. Yes, anyone can quit, you can leave right now if you want, but you get no severance if you do, you need to wait for them to lay you off.

If you find a new job now you must wait for them to lay you off with their timing, not yours, or you will not get a severance. The only thing with that is they will try and do it before October. But it will likely happen before then in phases depending what group your from.

So many fake trolls on this site!

Are you serious? Do you think the CEO will splurge on severance packages? Back to reality. Break is over. Back on your heads.

It is true, was in the Email, not news in any way, also no different from any previous reduction. The problem is this site is polluted with non-CVX personnel trying to find out inside information about the company, obvious in the OP's post.

That would be nice if true since it would incentivize more people to leave and open up more spots for people that want to stay. They should incentivize across the board if they are going to do it though. Rumors and anonymous posts are a natural side effect of management’s lack of transparency and foot dragging. Management wants to monopolize the information and keep us all in limbo. “Data is an asset” and the more information we share and cross check amongst ourselves, the better we can prepare for the future.
