Thread regarding Collins Aerospace layoffs

Don't get sick or get old

If you get sick or a family member gets sick you will be moved to the top of the layoff list.

HIPPA protects your medical history but not your medical/insurance costs. The company has access to that data and will use it to prioritize people for layoffs.

If you get old, your insurance costs will go up, and you will be selected for a layoff.

Don't get sick or get old.

CA management are not anti-kid. They are just anti-kid related absences from work.

Questions you should ask yourself:
Do you want to leave work to spend time with your family?
Do you have a sick child at home?
A child graduating?
Do you have a child's birthday party to attend?
Do you need time off for these things?

They just want you at work until they layoff you off. Too many child related absences and you are on the layoff list!

@4b8 I disagree with that assessment. There was no greater motivation for me as a mother to work, get health insurance and ensure my kids basic needs were covered at a minimum. People lately are anti-kid and I want to tell every one of them, who will pay your social security one day and keep the society from crashing. Economies crash when you do not replace the elderly. Short sited of a company not too embrace our youth because it helps a company in the long term.

@3g5
The management team at CA hates maternity leave. It costs them a great deal of money, and they lose the employee for several months.

When they come back to work the mgt team needs to find a place to put the person as their previous position is already filled.

It is just easier and cheaper to lay off pregnant people or just not hire women.

@3g5 Wow that’s awful! I can honestly say I hate Collins Aerospace it was wayyyy better when it was Rockwell Collins yrs ago. I know so many people “let” go. I was one of them 14 yrs in.

I know a couple laid off who took related maternity leave where she worked Collins and hubby worked Pratt. They were both let go at the same time and were great workers. Horrible

My wife got sick while I was working. Had about 24 years invested into my career. Always had exceeded or met expectations.

When she got sick, I got laid off within a year. Something (excuse) was made up for my termination.

They do look at keeping costs down at all costs including all employee expenses.

The most irritating thing is when HR/company comes out with slogans like:

"We care about your wellbeing"
"We care about you and your family"
"We wish the best for you"
"There is nothing in the budget to give you more money" (mostly because the CEO want their $23M/year)
"Your job is safe"
"That is fair pay for the work you do"

WHY DO THEY LIE? DO THEY THINK WE ARE STUPID?

And then we lay you or about 10% of your colleagues off.

@OP Wow! So FMLA is out the window? I was “terminated” or fired in September. So when the layoffs do come they don’t have to pay me severance pay 🤬Oh how nice of them. I’m at retirement age worked at Collins for 14 yrs. POS company
