Less than 15 day notice period ok?

I have tight schedule and I won't be able to give 15 day notice, is that ok? will there be any pay cut?

Are you just learning about Ford’s history? Man oh man, live in metro Detroit for a few generations and work for that family, you learn the quiet history…. Evil company, evil management, fu---d up people.

@348 They'd never expose their friend. Ford and Amazon do great work together. They may be friends because they're part of the same club, so not really friends. Probably hold kompromat on each-other.

@33k Do you think Amazon prime would be interested in making a real life documentary on Ford Motor Company? Obviously anonymized and with a cast that helps illustrate it and all. But this time, very very very accurate and truthful to the T.

@33s Old school cancel culture. They'd certainly complain about cancel culture themselves when other people have enough power to do it too. Except it would hit harder because it would be more true.

"If you have nothing to hide why are you so afraid of surveillance?"

Ok. Now your turn then?

@33p Bear in mind most of these workers were foreign immigrants. This was part of the company's plan to oversee the 'Americanization' of their families. They were also heavily scrutinized for trying to hold on to aspects of their culture that they were expected to shed as part of this process

@33m "I'm American enough to understand and speak fluent English" - yes, it is important to be able to communicate with one another.

"I'm still fu--ing Shinto/Buddhist, my daughter makes offering kuchikamizake and I observe most major festivals, and I'm working in addition to my husband so why the f-ck am I ineligible for this increased wage and why is he not getting it?"

Now that is strange. There is no need to remove all traces of one's personal culture within the home.

@33k They also were checking whether the families were being "unamerican" with their foreign cultures.

@2zb Suppliers and other partners constantly talk sh-t about Ford. Everyone knows this place is hart-headed. Old-school and they think unethical practices are still okay. Probably slavery too...

This place is fu--ing strange as fu-k the more you look into it. A movie should honestly be made...

@1y4 The company is a shithole filled with sadistic a--holes and losers, suppliers (good ones) are paying better, why would anyone want to stay?

I agree - no notice necessary, just do you. What's the deal with everyone leaving? I know at least four or five people who have announced they're leaving in the past month....

In my opinion, the two week notice 'social contract' is over. If the company will let you go with zero notice, they should expect the same with you. Remember, you are an at-will employee.

Regarding the 'leaving to a competitor', I've heard that they will pay you for whatever notice you would give and then walk you out, but a lot has changed and this might no longer be the policy. In any case, I wouldn't lie about it.

I think it's more around the relationship you have with your management. If they are understanding, they will understand that you cannot give more time. If they will be pi---d at you leaving, they will be pi---d regardless of how long you give them.

Fu-k em - about 15 seconds is what I plan to do when that day comes. They wouldn't offer you even 15 seconds of courtesy, so why extend that same courtesy to them?

Why would anyone say where they are going? If they asked, I would tell them I'm going to a field completely different.

@OP at will employment and the 2 weeks is a courtesy notice. You can give a notice and leave on same day or even less than a week.

Even if you don't go to competitor, they may want to walk you out if HR says so to your supervisor or manager.

All the best.

@et This is only partially true.

If you announce you are going to a competitor then yes today will be your last day. Whether you actually get paid for the next 2 weeks is up to your LL6 and LL5. It's called paid-in-lieu and is entirely optional on the part of the company.

I've seen it partially paid or not paid at all, but I've never heard of someone getting paid the full 2 weeks.

@et I thought if someone goes to competitor they immediately walk out and punish by not paying 2week notice

Retiring? You just make sure your Ford retirement fund is set up properly. But I think there's a point where you can put a finger in the air on your way out. No more Mondays.

@OP You give your 2 weeks notice, as expected. Then add you are going to a competitor, no details provided. You'll get your 2 weeks salary, but you'll be asked to surrender laptop/badge and will be walked out the company in less than an hour.

@ae

If losing that amount of pay bothers you then you might have other issues. A few weeks pay...really who cares. Unfortunate but whatever. Ideally you're never going back, leave on good terms if you can, but don't inconvenience yourself to do so.

@aa I am not joining competitor and I am afraid I might loose the pay if I say so

Just tell them you’re joining a competitor, and they’ll make you leave immediately.

Is it more than they'd give you? If so, it's perfectly fine.
