S—s, because I did not see it coming. Couldn't even say goodbye to my team. Any idea how much time does one on H1 have to look for a new job? Yes we are on payroll for a few weeks but that doesn't mean our visa is valid till then right? I think we have 60 days to look for a new job.

H1B visa jobs take jobs from Americans. Remember that.
@2oni Yep that's what the law firm told me as well, but also that the H1B won't be revoked until our payroll ends. So it's bit of a grey area, laws around these situations aren't defined clearly anywhere.
Given the economy is so bad ( despite what mainstream news reports), try finding a company that is going to pay your visa sponsorship when everyplace is trying to cut costs. There are too many Americans looking for work. The H1B visa days are over.
60 days from last day of work. You stay past 60 days and you are banned from coming back to USA for 3 years. Stay past 180 days and it’s a 10 year ban. But don’t quote me, google it, it’s all there.

60 days but I do not think it's once you come off payroll unlike @yht said below. I was told from the immigration law firm the HR lady told me to talk to that I have 60 days from the day I was laid off.
