Thread regarding AMN Healthcare Services Inc. layoffs

Curious for your thoughts

I'm just wondering what everyone is thinking lately. Survey results feel extremely vague. Holiday gifts felt thrown together last minute. Lost the Amazon stipend. No explanation for anything, they just keep taking away but the messaging is how great we're doing. Jeff Decker retiring. Jill Marmo retiring. I've heard several positions are open due to people leaving and they aren't backfillng. Stock price is underwater. Feels like a sinking ship and I don't know how long I can hold on.

@2yz “retiring”

We know what that is code for - forced to resign or separated with dignity, quietly.

Layoffs are a trend. Business is not getting better so they have to make cuts.

@280 I wonder if that’s why Jeff Decker is retiring.

Latest word is that another round of layoffs is hitting physician and leadership solutions division soon. January or early Feb at the latest…

@r6 I've been paying attention. I've also been looking for quite some time. I can't take a 10k pay cut so I do my job and toe the line and keep looking. It's exhausting.

@1dy you should have received an email that had a few options to pick from. There was a backpack, a tote, sneakers, a kettle and one other thing I can’t remember

@r6 I would love nothing more than to leave. I’ve been searching almost a year & cannot find anything. It’s wild. I feel SO sorry for all of those people who were laid off & still can’t find work. The job market is atrocious. Until that finally comes, I am doing the bare minimum & I no longer try to solve any problems. I log in, do my job, & log out. No extra hours, no above & beyond, no volunteering for projects, nothing extra. I am so much happier outside of work & I refuse to let this place ruin me.

My thoughts? Start packing.
Have you not been paying attention to the posts about HR? When HR is failing in a company, everything else tends to follow. There’s also no way to know whether Jeff Decker and Jill are genuinely retiring. These days, they quietly push out senior leaders with severance packages and frame it publicly as a “retirement.” It wouldn’t be surprising if that were the case here.

The company also isn’t very profitable right now, so don’t expect incentives like those seen during the COVID era. COVID-era revenue is still helping keep things afloat, but no business strategy can fully undo the damage caused by how employees have been treated. In recent years, hundreds of people were laid off with little severance unless they had long tenure, and benefits were often cut off the same day. People don’t forget that kind of treatment, and AMN’s actions left a lasting impression.
No ERG will fix it either. It’s broken. It’s a toxic culture.

It really does feel like a sinking ship. That’s a bummer about the Amazon stipend going away. They didn’t even share that it was gone, that doesn’t seem right. This place doesn’t seem like a good place to be anymore. We are getting burned out left and right.

It’s a complete joke. I love how the lowest rankings are coming in for the C Suite, but that’s not being addressed. Some of the comments on our dept surveys were brutal, but nothing will be addressed. I also love the simulated phishing emails saying we’re getting a gift card because of our hard work. That is SO tone deaf.

I’m just in it for a paycheck. People are dropping like flies and I expect there to be even less coming back after Christmas. I used to be so invested but honestly it’s just work, there’s a lot of life to live outside of it so I just don’t put so much emphasis on the drama anymore. I go in, do what I need to do and leave work at work when I leave.
