Rumors from credible sources shared the company plans to move the NJ Englewood Cliffs office to TX, home of its phone business. Anyone hear anything?

@154 This didn't age well.
Yes, heard the same from a current, high level employee involved in discussions. All but ~150 will be offered relocation. With most employees deeply tied to the NJ / NY area with extended family, spouses with careers, etc, I would think another 20~30% won't make the move.
Announced by NA CEO today. To be completed by Nov.
@2eg when? Date of completion?
confirmed
@26g when and where was this announced?
@OP heard that move will be in phases. Announced now and completed by summer of 27
@269 Tell everyone your source.
@26a they filed it. Check the state website for Warn
@267 check this post. people were laid off before notice was actually filed. assuming same course of action this time around. https://www.teamblind.com/post/samsung-electronics-america-layoffs-927-wiosrjtq
@267 they filed it the day of layoffs. the effective date of layoffs was 12/24-12/26 (those were the last days of severance payments). i will be very shocked if they file Warn notice ahead of layoffs.
@265 yes they did. It is listed with the state. https://data.northjersey.com/see-which-companies-announced-mass-layoffs-closings/for-samsung-electronics-america-nj-none/nj-2024-00074/
@25c source?
@264 Samsung did not send it in 2024, even though they laid off 300 people.
@25c there has to be WARN notice sent to the state 90 days prior to mass layoffs of 50 or more with companies of 100 or more employees.
@25c what % of workforce will be laid off? any groups in particular?
Move was approved. Happening with layoffs on June 5th
Why would my HRBP who was just be publicly commenting on LinkedIn job postings if HR doesn't have the head up their NJ jobs are in jeopardy?
@1sc apparently it will be announced some time after NJ layoffs that are planned for June 2nd.
@1rj which products? any timing on when the move will be hapenning? is the plan to pag relocation costs to all employees they are keeping?
@1gq this is a very real rumor (if not fact at this point) about consolidating every one in plano tx. Have heard from several sources.
I have also heard some products are being discontinued.
@154 you are thinking koreans in charge are reasonable. they are not and certainly do not know what they are doing.
anyone heard some divisions are getting sold off? would explain the rumor about move.
Impossible, not even a year officially moving into Englewood and people are already starting rumors. Get comfortable, another 10 years at minimum. We would have extended our lease at Challenger 2 years if that was even a possibility.
@OP I heard it too at TX office
I’m not sure it’s as random as you might think given who provided the information. I did hear it is also gaining a lot of momentum within executive circles.
Just some random rumor, not from a credible source at all.
