I’m so upset. As an internal employee, we deserve answers. I found out because I’m currently interviewing and there hasn’t been any movement. I had to reach back out to HR and this is how I found out about the hiring pause. What do we think is going to happen?
@ed I couldn't imagine being laid off then the same department hiring for the same position. I know of 1 team with over 50 ICs reporting to 1 director but not enough work. No idea if any were let go, but it isn't fair to employees when PLs keep hiring when there isn't enough work, then in turn people are let go.
Some teams in my department are so bloated even after multiple rounds of restructuring. Manager, senior manager, multiple ICs on teams that add little business value.
@dm agreed. There are far too many applicants.
Good. Let the people leaders justify positions are actually needed before they can over hire and more people are impacted with layoffs.

@cp I just had internal interview. Im currently on job reassignment
@d0 no. They have postponed all current positions. And leaders have to meet with HR to vet that they are still needed and meet the guidelines.

checked job postings this morning and there are 4, where yesterday there were hundreds.

What line of business or which state had layoffs?
They just promoted many people on the infra side, from senior engineers to senior director levels. Either there were no restrictions on promotions on the infra side, or they completed the promotion cycle to ensure it was implemented before these restrictions.
