Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Telecommuter status info

Please sit tight. If and when you are impacted, you will be told. Yes, certain divisions will be announced (notified) Monday. Healthspring and legacy Blue are treated the same way…within a given division. It is so easy for these threads to go off the rails.
OP: @at+1kmqxfe37

Bumping this for visibility, before we all get tied in knots trying to figure it out.

@1zq JR is probably snuggling up to his leadership pals.

Remember- “ it is a privilege and honor to work here- why do you need more money?” Actual words from HR

@qe They only do whatever benefits the company. They wouldn’t care if gas was $10 a gallon. If they wanted you in the office, they wouldn’t care what it costs you to get to the office.

@j5 appreciate the pension but they cant keep rubbing that in our face. The company was good at one point and now they are focused the top level executive making money while impacting lower level employees living pay check to paycheck. Our benefits and company have gone down the toilet with more and more every out employees are burnt out, cant address cost of living and are told to go look else where. Some employees still believe in culture and commitment but as much as our loyalty to the company is something we want to do- they push us out the door. Some of us are great and fantastic at our job and dont get compensated as we should so those bonuses that you call a bonus are to help us live by surviving pay check to pay check. That pension that keeps getting thrown in our face is appreciated and part of what used to make this organization who they were but they need to stop throwing that in our face and using it against. Its time that we focus in employees and not having the top of the top be selfish. You sound like you make more than enough and in HR. Some of us still care about what we do and hope to see the company turn around. At this point so much is happening and is fishy that im wondering what really is going on and what is being covered up. You brag about what we have...are you covering something up? Your throwing a red flag out in my opinion and now im looking at you up and down by the way you are responding. What are you trying to cover up?

It sounds like a work in progress still. I was told I would know next week.

@qe It is actually not funny at all. Who wants to travel 2+ hours one way 3 days a week? That is not feasible.

I think its funny everyone is paranoid on moving locations. Its not like you are losing your job. Who knows, after the first batch of employees are wfh, maybe they will give an option for others to wfh due to economy costs.

@nm This is not correct and it's not correct in the other thread you said same thing. The information is stil being rolled out and some departments, leaders will have access this week.

Don’t listen to the OP. It’s BS. You already know if you’re moving to wfh. The announcement is to tell who, what, when for the rest of the company. How it aligns with their “national” presence and need for “national” talent stuff.

@km No department is perfect. You do your best and go home. If you can change your dept, seek a management or leadership, more power to you. Complaining on a Layoff site your dept su-ks, maybe your bored. I am sure your benefits cover therapy.

@jr

I also don’t concern myself with what Sr Leadership makes and agree it has no impact on how I work. But, it’s a job and the majority of people that work don’t do it for the love of the company. People work to pay bills, take care of family and live. If they required full time in office presence with no wfh option, I absolutely would leave and not out of spite. I just prefer working at home and if Humana, Molina, CVS and CIGNA continue offering roles fully remote as they have, I imagine that’s where my resume will land. It’s just a job- if it makes you miserable, learn to find joy in it or find one that brings you some. There’s no reason to be miserable for your employer. My fingers are crossed that whatever coming is a good thing.

@jr speaking of dr-gs- clearly you need them far more than everyone else here. You seem charming - I bet your department is a hostile work place.

@js bahaha- that’s rich. Clearly you are not in sales. We see all the employer plans and they are far better than our benefit plans. We talk a lot about health but c suite has zero interest in any meaningful programs. They just like to complain about how much we cost.

@et totally agree. It feels that the only time HCSC makes decisions like this, when it works for their benefit. They make policies that hybrid employees need to be here 3 days a week, and then run reports to see who is compliant. Those that aren’t, are put on disciplinary action. Then a year later, decide to make certain ‘divisions’ fully remote. Really?? HCSC is playing with people’s livelihood. What made them change their mind, because one of the leaders made a bad decision and it is costly?! Now, they are figuring ways to make money, lessen expenses, and layoff employees because of someone’s bad decision. We have no choice, but let them treat us this way. I am surprise with all these changes, that we don’t have a lot of people seeking mental and emotional stress for what HCSC is putting us through.

@j5 I didn’t say they owe. I said to be fair. I am talking about FAIRNESS. HCSC makes employees take ethics and compliance classes to make sure every one knows what ethically is right and wrong. To treat every one equally- what makes one division favorable then the next? The decision should be fair.

@jk Absolutely. HCSC participates in surveys to ensure its combination of benefits is in line with those of other companies. HCSC offers pensions, other companies may offer larger 401k matches and higher salaries so that the overall package is similar.

@jk What can you change? Nothing.
I don’t give a hoot if c-suite make 100M. All I can do and control is my job, and do it to the best of my abilities. If I lose my job one, sure it will su-k but I won’t come to this site and complain.
And I am pretty sure most people complaining on this site, are +40, married, divorced, kids, mortgage, college loans, etc. Its not the companies responsibility to make you happy.
Life su-ks, get a therapist or get better dr-gs.

@j5 The idea that we should be giving credit to HCSC's C-suite for offering us rock bottom, bare minimum benefits is insane. Health insurance and retirement plans are table stakes for attracting and retaining talent, not anything our clueless, unethical leadership ought to be bragging about.

@j5 ok Shannon.
I would have said great benefits in the past but our benefits SU-K compared to other employers. We pay more and get less. Yes we get a pension but it’s not a lot.
4-5 days in office? Yea. People will leave and all that will be left are butt clowns , kiss ups , and incompetents

@h1 I support hybrid but saying employees should get a choice is not up to the employees. Wfh is not a right or privilege. Its a temporary offer, which can be rescinded. What if hybrid changes to 4 or 5 days in the office. Will you leave or just complain. The company doesn’t owe you or I anything.
Not sure how many companies offer a 401k, pension and bonus. Let alone a robust health insurance.
Be content, take care of your family and health.

If they are offering WFH, it should be offered to all division. I feel if it is given to certain divisions, it’s discriminatory. What makes a certain division given the opportunity and others not? COVID proved that telecommuting is possible. Positions that are HYBRID, employees should be given the opportunity to decide to stay as HYBRID or REMOTE. It should be fair.

@et In the town hall we were told we couldn’t achieve growth without collaboration and everyone in the room and on the call working together. Two days later we learn some are shifting to WFH full time, immediately if desired, with the full announcements scheduled for Monday. It’s like two different groups are running the company and they do not align direction or messaging.

Why don’t the town halls cover relevant issues of substance - like this swift change to WFH which is so incongruent with the focus by the enterprise messaging on card swipes and tracking? We talk one team and culture but everyone feels alone and waiting for the shell game to just kick them out like all the really good folks that were laid off last October! The reputational damage from the lack of substantive conversation forcing grapevine to be dominant communication channel really makes us all wonder if anyone is in charge?
