Thread regarding Fidelity National Information Services Inc. layoffs

Project Dolphin?

Anyone know anything about it? It sounds so cheery. I know enough about FIS to be suspicious.

"FT = Franklin Templeton. FIS tried to take over handling FT's customer service calls and it ended up being an nightmare for FIS, FT, and FT's customers, so FT is taking it all back."

and yet, we're going to do this to ourselves.

the doers will be cut, pushed to offshore or outsourced
the reporting functions that report up what the doers are doing are growing, and are all onshore. office of transformation, tech pmo, project management office....

@1st @1st i don't understand this. This company knows how this game works as we have done it ourselves.
you make all kinds of promises and underbid the contract to win, cut costs below what is needed to actually perform the service, underdeliver, and eventually the customer gets fed up with a very poor quality service and leaves
customers are already pi---d. our ps and dev is not going to get better if we hand this to someone like Tata

Project Dolphin was a code name for an M&A deal 2 years ago. I suppose it could be something new as well, but I have not personally heard this in my day to day.

Project Dolphin is nothing Firdaus says in town halls, email communications, and so on is to be believed.

No one should trust Firdaus, Stephanie or Bob T

There was a project with that name 2 years ago, related to an acquisition. Perhaps this is new..

Is another function being outsourced to a third party? Can you give a hint?

Bad for FTE's? Given that they have been slowly outsourcing teams (accounting, finance, HR), my guess is that they finally decided to outsource the rest of the worker bees.

I think I know but I'm not supposed to know. So I'll just say it's bad for FTEs.

The project to move FT to FIS platforms was Project Condor; so I guess the bird symbolism was bad (dead ducks more apt), so now moving along to aquatic life?

Many corporations moved call centers previously to offshore sites. It resulted in major backlash by clients and customers, so many of or majority of those positions were moved back onshore. A little research would go a long way. But, a former manager told me that project managers or managers in general didn’t need to know the business. That pretty much sums up FIS management, blind and clueless “leadership”.

FIS names their initiatives doomed to failure in this manner. Just ask the recently laid off Indian colleagues who were hired to take over the functions of the FT TA because they seriously underbid the contract. The FIS senior leadership's solution was to move the phones and processing "to a lower cost center." If I recall correctly, that was Project Owl. It clearly demonstrates how little they value the contribution of tenured staff. FIS senior leadership believes, incorrectly, that any function can be transferred like chess pieces. They admitted as much in an answer to a Town Hall question about the fate of Main Office Services to "the lower cost center." Relationships built over years are not valued by FIS when money is on the line. This story needs to be told by a journalist who can capture every detail of this debacle.
