I know who will NOT be laid off - The big % of family members related to leadership. This place is toxic.

@36b Hearing this will happen after bonus payouts hit. Reorganize, layoffs, new hills to climb coming in goals.

@OP Not a rumor. It was just confirmed to me this week not once but twice. Reorg is coming again. Don't waste your bonus on Chiclets.

@20t That’s not a story, that’s you writing both sides of the script and applauding yourself. More like staging a fairytale in a virtual echo chamber. Upvotes don’t equal truth. Stop being misleading and just say what you want to say or go away.

I wrote both the previous positive take and the previous negative take. The upvotes and downvotes tell a story.

@1r2 toxic positivity can be well meaning but tone deaf. when people lose their jobs it immediately impacts their livelihood and their family. and like it or not it can be extremely demoralizing. the frustration is that these bean counters come in and fire anyone with any self respect not wanting to work nights and weekends, leaving everyone else to pick up the work. if you complain about your workload you put a target on your back. meanwhile they hire college grads like crazy for next to no money hoping some of them stick around long enough. leadership seem less concerned about that actually works and more concerned with some completely bloated success story that in all reality lost the company money. You can put your head down and work, that's exactly what they want you to do, sit there and take it. Billions in profit , stock buy backs - this is the world we live in. The best thing that might come out of AI is the millions of start ups that will compete and te--orize these greedy fu--s. work already su-ks, why the he-l would you want to also worry about keeping your sh---y job by groveling and ki-ling yourself with stress. The company has no interest in retaining you, it has an interest in increasing shareholder value, period!!

Yeah, it’s tough when it feels like a cycle. Honestly it took an emotional toll to NOT be laid off over the years. I’ve started trying to look at it differently, though. If I worry about it now and it happens later, I just suffer twice (or infinitely) . I’m trying to strictly focus on doing good work today and letting the rest go. If it happens, we are talented and we will figure it out then. If we don't feel talented right now, maybe overworked in our specific role, then we'll have time during our layoff to upskill and reposition ourselves. No use letting them rent space in our heads for free right now. Here's an interesting thought: a layoff may mean temporary pain and suffering, but you could look back in a few years and realize it lead to emotional fortitude that you developed through a difficult experience, it could mean an increase in pay or a better culture or manager, it could mean more time with important people, it could mean a career shift. If fear prepares you, then be afraid, eat your heart out, but if fear sends you in a spiral - find a new way forward.

Makes no sense, why layoff late last year then layoff march. Would have just been better to do it all before the new year and aviod payouts bonuses and such. I call bs n fear mongering. We should expect it later on in the year.

@16m
Oh wow. That explains why the executive director over my team was acting so distant to me around November. We even had a quarterly 1-on-1 and he had this whole “eh I don’t care” attitude. I figured he just had other stuff on his mind. Wow. Very frustrating.

I just need to make it to August so that I'll have 15 years. 30 weeks of severance would be sweet

@g8 They do know in advance. I was cut in the January 2025 round. One of the separation I received was dated 2 months prior (November). It explained why my director was completely ignoring my pleas for help with a couple groups that were giving me a great deal of trouble. She didn't care to fix it because she knew I'd be gone.

@g8 they definitely do know months before but not who will be affected. How do you think they know who to lay off and who to shift around into other departments? They are talking to higher ups and viewing the work flow and shifting some work overseas. It's business. I think it's good that they are at least paying people out some companies just leave you high and dry.

Sure hope not. Departments in auto are close to breaking point as things are not getting done on a timely basis. That and the multiples of seasoned retirements is already going to increase the work loads.

There are still major org changes coming according to my sources who haven’t mislead me yet on any of their info. Also expect layoffs in March to accompany these changes. CFO and Auto are going to be the biggest hit. Invest is also going to see some significant leadership changes.

In the group I work with there are already several of my team members waiting to leave once they get their bonus. While it’s not uncommon for this to happen, people are openly talking about. Never in my 10+ years of being here have I ever seen this many people straight up say or very strongly hit at leaving in front of their managers and directors. These aren’t roles that can be replaced by some AI tool either.

Also don’t be surprised to see an announcement about relaunch to lending… this time from a bit of a different angle which they will for sure shelve in 3ish years

After 2 rounds of layoffs last year, tightening department budgets, then committing $2 billion to boost the stock price while not investing anything in improving technology, they've shown that they will do whatever they can do to squeeze more short term value out of the company.

I don’t think they’d know something like that multiple months before enacting it. I’m cautiously optimistic we won’t have any major layoffs this year.

Most definitely there will be big layoffs coming soon. They did org changes so that new leadership can remove teams they feel might not be as important.

Since we have enough money for stock buybacks I expect there to be no more layoffs, to receive the discretionary 401k match every year, and to get a full bonus every year. All that can happen for less than we're planning on spending buying back stock and upper management would never see things differently right? ..... right?
