Thread regarding USAA layoffs

USAA Way Experience

No need to attend that tomorrow. If you have worked at USAA for more than 5 years, then you know why it WAS a special place to work. You don't need 20 fake interactions to know why USAA is NO longer a special place to work.

If USAA is serious about making the company a special place to work once again, there is only one interaction needed...a video of the Board firing Wayne, Tamla, Amala, and all the imported failed leadership from Wells Fargo.

I applaud all the dedicated teams of workers who baked that tiny cake! Really shows ... Er, teamwork. Right.

Or stupidity.

What a joke.

Imagine how many of our teammates lost their jobs so that Wayne could have the USAA Way Toxic Experience kickoff party. Now Wayne and Tamla are taking the experience on a tour to all of the offices. Millions of dollars being wasted to promote RTO and their toxic culture. Wayne’s traveling circus is coming to town. Don’t forget to get your selfie with the first CEO to post a loss for USAA. Save our jobs, keep your culture!

Okay, to the team who put on the party: You did your best and a lot of us employees appreciate the effort. It was a slap in the face to everyone that our fearless leader was not there due to a convenient schedule conflict.

Wayne to employees: i want you in the office! Virtual doesn’t work!

Wayne to all 4 employees at USAA way experience: i’ll attend remotely

Watched the "party" from remote and made these observations:

  1. That cake was very, very tiny. Tiny. And blue. Did I say it was tiny? Maybe the tiny cake kn--e was passed around so each employee could have a lick. Oh, did I mention the cake was very tiny?
  2. There were some themed columns that people could stick post it notes with their thoughts on them. The column marked "honesty" was very sparsely populated. Wonder why?
  3. Wayne showed up - as a recorded message. He ghosted the home office party.
  4. The archival guy was ok in my book. Wish he could have posted stuff from the archives like the 4 day workweek and how the previous 100 years had no losses. Probably would have been laid off on the stage.
  5. The big prize for attending was a pair of churros and a donut (for 101, get it?) Now everyone will need some insulin. Don't think those will be a payroll deduction, but still verifying that.

Did you have a whole team dedicated to planning that 101st Birthdat Celebration? How much time did that team of overachiever put in? Maybe an hour tops and that is being generous. Nice touch with the tiny little cake too! Lol

Nothing like the Office Space optics on this fiasco. Let's cut a tiny cake to celebrate USAA's 101st Birthday. I'm sure senior leaders will get a piece and the workers will get shafted just like they are getting shafted with the continuous layoffs.

Worker bees better grab their donut before Wayne and the EMG take away their red Swingline staplers and move their desks to the basement.

Looks like Wayne and Tamla skipped out on the party you supposedly worked so hard to plan. What a joke!

The hallway in the HO doesn't look packed either like it was a year ago. Maybe lots of other people decided to stay home and ACTUALLY work instead of attending the goofy party you supposedly worked so hard to plan.

What a shock! No senior leadership like Wayne and Tamla present for the all important USAA Way Experience and USAA's 101st Birthday. Where are they hiding out? Supposedly they are in NYC at a speaking engagement about the USAA Way. I wonder if the title of Wayne's talk is "How to Help Your Company Lose Over $1B and Still Receive a 150% Raise".

Wow, the first sentence perfectly sums up what is wrong with the company. You have teams of people working around the clock? To plan a party/celebration? While there have been thousands of people laid off over the last couple of years? Why have you not worked around the clock to fix the regulatory/compliance issues? Why are you not investing that time in innovating and building out products that will put us back on top? Because today's senior leadership doesn't know how to do that. They'd rather have hard-working people plan out celebrations and make futile attempts to remind you how great a place you work at. Lipstick on a pig...Wow!

"Well, stay home then. We have teams of dedicated employees who have been working around the clock to create a fun experience for you. I get that you want to be upset, keep your pity party to yourself. The truth is, we have a lot of employees who want to be at USAA. It’s okay if you don’t and honestly, if you’ve gotten to the point where you are speaking negatively about your employer on external forums, it’s definitely a sign that you need to step away. Stop resisting what is. Take responsibility for your life. No one is forcing you to stay in a situation that isn’t bringing you happiness. You are 100% accountable for creating the life experiences you desire. And before you clap back saying this is a “Wayne” or “Tamla” post, it’s not. I’m just a fellow employee asking you to own your sh-t."

Welcome to Wayne's World of Insanity. You will be punished for doing your job instead of sucking up to his hand-picked failed leadership from other crooked financial institutions like Wells Fargo.

Nice try corporate-bootlicker. You are the one here on this site attempting to gaslight employees, creating the true toxic environment at USAA...all the while ignoring the real problems in the company. If you want people to own their "sh!t" as you claim...you should look in the mirror and start with yourself. Try addressing any of the points I made...you can't because you are an ignorant empty-suit just like I said.

You sound like an id--t. Why are you even on a site like this when you are drinking way too much of the company koolaid? Your job could be in the next round of layoffs and I am sure you won’t be singing the praise anymore. I would say besides the layoffs many people are getting screwed over and I am not even talking about being sent back to the office. I actually don’t feel bad about that. I am talking about all of us that were hired remote and have no opportunity to even go into an office. I guess I am also talking about the ones who have to go to an office now but were recruited away from other companies based on lies. The recruiters and hiring teams spilled a bunch of BS to us to get us to come here and now we are all screwed over. I left 16 years of service to my last company and now I am scrambling to figure out what to do because I am stuck in my role.
We are also being screwed over with all this extra work because so many people are being shown the door.

Go on another site and sing your high praises. This site isn’t for you.

Whew! Y’all need Jesus! Complaining about the toxicity, not realizing that you’re the very ones creating the toxic environment with your negativity, poor assumptions, and overall low vibrational energy. Everything you hate about our culture is you! If you want to improve our culture, start with improving yourself.

Yes, let's throw a party to temporarily distract you from the RTO gaslighting that has been aflame the past couple months. Oh, need to care for an aging parent but live 43 miles away? Have a piece of party cake and see you full time in the office soon! Have a medical situation with a small child where need to stay home? Oh, I see you live 15 miles away - Have a piece of party cake and see you full time in the office soon! Come back after the party, you might be able to take a piece of cake home to your sick child. We'll check on the amount to deduct from your paycheck if that cake happens.

You're not Wayne or Tamla. You are just some corporate boot-li---r who has probably never even served in the military. I doubt you even have a clue what the word serve actually means.

Beyond that, why don't you address the concerns raised by employees on this site:

  1. EMG and execs above have made poor hiring decisions during COVID-19 that have created large numbers of teams where one or more members is permanently remote. So the same level of Zoom calls will continue after Labor Day when RTO is implemented. There won't be the level of personal interaction that you and the people you suck up to are expecting or demanding. You just don't have a clue or you don't care. Either way, USAA would be far better served if I stayed in my position as opposed to some ignorant empy-suit like yourself.
  2. USAA has never had a losing year in it's 100 year history until Wayne took over. Not during The Great Depression, not during the stock market meltdown in 1987, not during the dotcom bubble burst, and not during the 2008 financial crisis. Wayne should hand his raise back in to help keep some employees he helped lay off if he had any dignity. Apparently he doesn't and you fully support that.
  3. USAA has suffered serious compliance fines from the OCC the past several years do to mismanagement at the highest levels of the company. Let these failed leaders attend the USAA Experience Day and have them learn what USAA is actually about vs. abject profiteering off their military members.

You're upset because people who have had their lives negatively impacted, people who have moved their families based on false (and I might add, "written") promises, folks who can't stand the toxicity, don't want to eat your precious cake???? Because you and your teams have thrown together a party in the middle of chaos and those who consider it to be in bad taste don't care to go????

Will this be a costume party, where you dress up as Marie Antoinette?

I think they also need to compensate all of the employees they harmed. They could pay out millions-billion $ due to their incompetence; now they need to pay for their ugliness!

For those employees unfairly fired, or forced out, they need to pay the severance packages and damages on top of that. They also need to give the bullies that are now creating a toxic environment the boot.

While I know this will not happen, I can always hope that there is justice.
