Thread regarding Illumina Inc. layoffs

This was a smaller round

From what I can see, this was a pretty limited round, which makes me more worried. Instead of feeling like it’s over, it just feels like the start of something that’s going to continue.

@1ms

You are so right. He is such a bad leader. Only there to fire people.

Leaders in my org are blindly using AI in producing crucial material, pasting cr-p in while not understanding what it is that’s being pasted. Meanwhile it’s riddled with errors and falsehoods. These people are cutting jobs for AI without knowing how to even properly use it. Spooky.

@OP
Another few down in SD and a few more up and added to APAC support team.

Wish ourself well as we could be the next digit to be erased.

I still see low-level developers in the organization building dashboards and loading data, even though the team encompasses Directors and Senior Directors. It’s so funny—the top leadership is completely visionless in AI era. :)

I have not heard of anything. Is what you’re hearing about actually “layoffs” ?

What is cursor ai?

Yes. Cursor AI usage now being monitored indicates Illumina will be going down the (completely blind) way of doing a round of AI "driven" job cuts. Stupid decisions by leadership who are uninspiring and do not get what AI is useful for . Also clearly looking up to the worst examples in the industry for inspiration on how to run a company. (Zuck, Dorsey etc).
