Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Expect more layoffs in August

The Board of Directors meets in June or early July. They are briefed on financials and forecasts for Q3 and Q4. Decisions are made at the highest level. No names - just financial targets.

Then it trickles down in July, and by late July or early August your VP or Director is forced to make decisions that may include stopping programs, laying off people, or both.

How many? My guess is 3,000 to 5,000.

Anticipate it. We are a data utility now. YoY Quarterly Revenue growth has been flat before the recent price increases to Customers.

Peter/CFO will continue his march to dramatically improve Free Cash Flow (FCF) between 2022 and 2026, which is good for the financial health of TMUS and also props up the cr-ppy Balance Sheet of our Daddy Deutsche Telekom (DT).

I believe they shortened the vest amount and period to six months. When I left, it was 12 months. So yes, they can cut their severance costs by vesting over six months rather than 12.

@2ate+1sZVNRNu. You poor, innocent, sweet fool. T-Mobile doesn't base layoffs by performance. Not one but. They have and will continue to cut as many jobs, and high performers as possible. Nothing, absolutely nothing can save your job from a layoff. Your time is coming, be prepared and pray T-Mobile doesn't start scaling back on their severance package. Though, rumor has it the next round of layoffs will see a sizable reduction in severance pay out.

Every month some du----s who has “insider info” starts squawking about more layoffs. There is nothing left to cut in IT, major programs are significantly off the mark and behind schedule because of all the people that were cut last year. if anything they need to hire more people in IT. Reference the McNeel email from 6/6.

If you’re genuinely concerned about losing your job, then start looking for a new one. Guess what? you will discover that every company is doing exactly what T-MOBILE does.

Senior leadership is in the business of keeping the company profitable you should be in the business of keeping yourself profitable. If that means leaving T-MOBILE and so be it.

Will there eventually be a layoff? Yes, eventually, more people will get laid off when the company needs to change direction.

If you’re concerned about being let go, then find a way to make yourself useful. People who get sh-t done, find ways to add value and don’t create drama tend to be safe from layoffs at the end of the day.

@yxz+1sZVNRNu "IT is going to be hit hard."

This makes a lot of sense and aligns with T-Mobile's goal of becoming a "deeply data-informed, AI-enabled, digital-first company."

Or is this Mike & Nestor's solution to address the extremely negative feedback they received in the Our Voice Survey?

You are 100% correct. It shows bad leadership all the way around, this doesn't mean anyone is JADED, it shows TMOBILE doesn't have right people managers in place. I've been saying it for years. It's a HR and legal nightmare in most markets. Report bad behavior and hold bad managers accountable. Not Jaded just needs guidance from great leaders. Some of the old tired managers have been sitting in these positions for 20 plus years with no formal leadership training. Bad on TMOBILE not the employees

I doubt there will be layoff before US Cellular is approved. Which means safe until next year at the earliest.

Every August there's a layoff. Lost 50% of our team in the cut last August. Just seems like par for the course at this point...

@gfu+1sZVNRNu - this was step by step what occurred when major cuts were made. Do not wait and if you think you can make the cut, best to make that IDP shine like a polished cybertruck to show value. Better demonstrate ownership of some major cake projects too.

I mean anyone could see this coming. I’m sure the next severance packages will only include the tiny August stock vesting and not the February vest. Also wouldn’t be surprised if prorated bonus stopped being included as well.

What is the probability of US Cellular deal to get approved if TMUS does a layoff at this time. Is it not a risk n sure enough FCC filing would have been done indicating job growth from day 1 (yes same old same old).

So it’s a risk doing so n is the reason why slight increase in price hike done to offset for time being is my thought.

Who cares, the company is doing GREAT and the employees are being treated bad. No work life balance. Start looking for a job. Remember the employees can turn this boat around. Stick together, if enough people leave, management may listen to the ones left. Leave!!!

Of course there will be more layoffs. They have to meet their goal of getting back to original Magenta numbers of 53K from prior to the merger. So at some 68K, there's at least 5K per year going bye bye each year over the next 3.

All so Mikey can buy another airplane.

Yes we know, this shouldn't be be surprising news for anyone. Also hearing rumors for the next round they're going to open it up to volunteers first. Dum dums should have done that the first time.

The timeline is correct. T-Mobile does most of its layoffs in Aug/Sept. Sievert has already kept his promise of "no foreseeable layoffs" as it's been almost a year. It will begin again. There a strong rumord that TFB and Enterprise will have some minor layoffs. IT is going to be hit hard. Training and Customer Care will be trimmed by 20% or more as there is a shift toward hiring less in retail by not holding ME's accountable to PIPs and raising theirs quotas to the point they are making $20 an hour and very little in commission. Virtual trainers are going to be hit the hardest, perhaps losing 30% as T-Mobile is shifting to a recorded self paced new hire training w/ pre recorded sessions and more responsibility on store leaders to onboard. Virtual trainers are being paid as L8 from when they were Field Marketing Managers last year so they are over paid and will be fully replaced by outsourced trainers within a year.

I am not surprised something big is brewing. Our manager has asked our team to update our workdays and complete IDP by end of June. I think another big layoff is coming
