Thread regarding T. Rowe Price Group Inc. layoffs

Purpose of This Site - Gone Off the Rails

This site should be one that provides information for those who have been affected by a layoff. It has devolved into name calling, bashing the company, and just saying mean things about current employees. Seriously, if you just want to say mean stuff, go post on Twitter.

There are repeater posters on here that are doing nothing but trying to scare people that all is lost. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

@1fh Looks like another India bot/troll coming on here to insult US IT workers. "Butter Chicken"??? "Go to university". We see you on the X platform. You don't like US STEM workers complaining because people in the Trump Admin are starting to take notice. Do they pay you to post in spots like this? Just curious. Let's see how long this lasts before it goes poof! The truth hurts apparently whenever this is brought to light. For all we know Accenture runs this website! People pointing out that the 3rd world partners are not on par with the existing staff is a sore subject. It is not a matter of college - most of the people being let go have degrees including MS degrees. You sound next level ta-d when you keep saying this cr-p. You are not even with T Rowe yet come to a board like this to try and silence us. 🤡 Maybe people need to check out Chief Engineer and Jobs. Now on X.

@13h IT (where the first phase of moving functions to Accenture is being carried out) is getting rid of qualified people, farming those jobs out to Accenture, and hiring managers non-stop. It seems like every other month some new manager comes on board. Assuming Accenture has a management structure of its own to handle stuff like employee reviews, etc, WTF are all of these managers going to do. In some cases each manager manages 1 or 2 other managers. I don't get it.

@1aa I get you may be used to 1s and 0s but surely you know 1000k is 1 million?

Also, GCIR delivers client reporting, not tech teams.

The world doesn’t revolve around tech teams and IT dudes. Try some butter chicken and go to college.😄

@p8 Most people think it is a techs op company due to the way this company has historically catered to the money makers who demand total customization of everything. There is no commercially available application that will satisfy the desire of the money makers need to customize.... Examples of this is the current environment in the Investments side of the house, there are over 1000k reports and more demanded daily. Why the need for so many reports that are reporting the same data? Because the Investment staff may like an existing report but wants to put their spin on it..and then only use it once or twice. We are using unsupported applications which we customized in a way that does not allow for self service, The only way to get that new flavor is to have a tech team build it for you...The Investment Staff, in all of my years, have been sheltered to what it takes in relation to time, cost and resources to meet their every demand. This is also evident in our External Client side demands. Our sales people pitches to potential Clients include processes and agreements that are unrealistic and then when they win the Account they demand that Tech make it happen, without ever understanding what we can truly offer, versus what is near impossible. The tech teams work miracles. The investment staff and Client facing teams just believe everything happens automagically.

@102 I’ve never worked at a company with this level of management overhead, and it’s creating real challenges—particularly on the IT side. Many managers appear to have moved into these roles as a step toward KM4, rather than out of a genuine interest or capability in leading people. As a result, there’s a noticeable gap in effective people management. Additionally, the ratio of managers to individual contributors feels excessive, which is impacting efficiency and clarity across the teams.

@10p It’s like a very, very, very bad marriage…it’s too far gone to be saved…sell it!

@102 I believe that the most important thing in reforming our company is to correctly recognize the problems we have. However, even if we hire new people, they won't be able to identify those problems right away. Moreover, whenever someone raises these issues, they inevitably face pushback and bullying from the incompetent old-guard managers who try to cover them up. As long as our executives fail to understand even this simple dynamic, hiring more and more new people will only increase costs — we'll end up as a company that can neither solve its problems nor generate profit.

@vt In my area, they are getting rid of people and replacing them with low energy people who can't figure things out for themselves who won't feel any sense of duty or connection to this company, but they keep hiring more managers as Associates. Assuming there are program managers, etc on the Accenture side, why hire layers and layers of managers? For example, In our area there are managers with 1 staff member under them who have 1 staff member under them and that guy has like 5 reports. Why have so many layers of management if the goal is cost cutting?

@wc The tech group allowed a lot of middle management to sit for years at tech center and do absolutely nothing. Mostly older and collecting a check while coming in 2 days a week. Some working remotely. Took Rounds of layoffs to get rid of them all.

@vt Honestly, that's a cheap shot. They've been told to clean up a mess they did not create and cutting costs is part of that. Nobody likes letting people go.

Also, nonprofits and charities have trustees, a corporation has a board of directors, you people continue to show your complete ignorance about the company you work for.

I am for 0 censorship. People say very mean and vile things to each other on this site, but this itself is telling as well since people get a glimpse at how dog sh-t some their coworkers are in this burning free for all. To be blunt, this is an anonymous online forum, you can't expect much else. I understand checking around the time of earnings call, but anyone who's skin isn't thick enough shouldn't be on here too much.

@pc I just checked Fidelity’s page here and it’s almost the same as T Rowe’s. I saw one post “I’ve lost all motivation”. I think this is general trend across Corporate America, people need a space to express their frustrations.

This is a reflection of how toxic the firm has become and how low morale is. You can you go to the Layoff pages for Vanguard, Fidelity, etc., and they are essentially inactive. Perhaps it’s because the people who work there are happier and aren’t as anxious because there are constant hidden layoffs every month that are never announced?

Employee attitudes are a direct reflection of a company’s culture, for better or worse. I’m very much looking forward to the upcoming Employee Survey and providing a detailed account of how the firm culture has deteriorated under Rob Sharps.

@p8 who cares what this company does or how when they just plan to replace all of us (yes, even non-tech roles) with offshore employees

@j0 one would think this is a Tech ops company. Do most of the posters here even know what the company does or how?

You are wrong, @OP, HR/management should be one that provides information for those who have been affected by a layoff, not this site. And calling out the management for not doing their job properly isn’t mean bashing, it’s criticism.

If you look around, you’ll find that employees at the other companies on this site post the same things as here. What’s happening to T Rowe isn’t unique, this is just one of the only avenues employees have to vent.

Public should beware of what poor leadership decisions the company had made over the last decade. It is a publicly traded company.
