Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Another 5.5% of the labor force is being let go before 2024.

I called the last round of layoffs, and I am calling this one again.

Don't be a statistic, if you are tenured, you aren't safe. If you are make more than the rest of your team, you aren't safe.

If your team is remote, you aren't safe.

Change is coming, will you be ready?

“ Impossible metrics you cant meet so they can fire you for performance. Leaders squeezed to write their people up or they get written up. They're about to squeeze the sh-t out of employees and customer”

This is already happening. We’re at the point where we can’t meet the fu----g metrics and leadership is all over our a-s about it every day. My sup already written up. I have won InCrowd and USE to be top 10-20% of my site almost every months. Now, with even harder effort. I can’t make it. I have started to do shady sh-t that i hate like round up peoples payments to try to meet metric. We are told to do this. If you owe 123 i will try and get 130 out of you. I can no longer care if you have money for food or not. Most ppl don’t know what they owe so I just tell them and they pay it. Supervisors and other reps are getting sloppy and careless now. More call avoidance is occurring. Sups don’t pay attention to sh-t and give you wrong information. I have had to correct three this week. One from my team and two from other teams for missing simple sh-t clearly seen in memos or not producing return label as promised to the customer. My sup sent a label for the wrong fu----g device despite me posting imei, name of device and sh-t. She wanted to act cute and pretend i had it wrong til i posted screenshots of the order platform. She was just being sloppy doing an easy email out from the wrong order instead of manually producing one for the right one. It’s getting fu----g bad. Real fu----g bad.

This will be the frontline and it wont be a layoff. They wont pay severance and unemployment to frontline. This is going to be Philip Humm's "Challenger Strategy" all over again. Impossible metrics you cant meet so they can fire you for performance. Leaders squeezed to write their people up or they get written up. They're about to squeeze the sh-t out of employees and customers.

"There was also a layoff in Core Engineering/RAN in April 2022. So they don't only happen in August. ID10T"

He's somewhat right though. Layoffs that are more widespread across a lot more organizations seems to be right before the end of Q3. This helps boost company worth for EOY numbers. It's all a game.

@1dav+1oPQh8KU Under the table , under the sheets , it is a travesty it was ignored and swept under when it comes out. He will mostly “retire” ….

I would agree that layoffs will be the ongoing norm but smaller relative to the recent 5,000. There have been targeted reductions ongoing since merger but unknown to most due to the size.

Key is to keep your skills sharp, be positive and bring value. On the side, explore job openings at other companies and ensure your experience and education match what the market is looking for.

If your tenure is low, also make sure you have a solid emergency fund in case you find yourself without a job

Don’t live your working days in fear.

@1yho+1oPQh8KU - what under the table stuff? WTF are you talking about?

Expect to see 1 store manager to 3 stores and a massive reduction in headcount for frontline leadership & also optimization taking place with SMRA/Top 100 come Feb.

This also aligns with the PTO reduction so they don't have to carry on the books and pay out massive PTO payouts for tenured people.

Expect also to see optimization in operations & backend support as more processes become automated through RPA & ML & AI.

Expect to see cuts being made to T-Mobile Business Front Line as they aren't hitting their targets and you'll start seeing massive layoffs.

Expect to see Sr. Managers/Managers in all TFB being evaluated based on their teams targets. If only a one person is hitting on a team or half the team has hit consistently - then expect to see those leaders being merged into others.

Expect to see those with consolidated business decks across territories being let go and then those accounts being spread across lower paid people. If you're the highest paid - you have a target on your back.

Expect to see VPs and Directors also being realigned/RIF next year for "Business Needs".

These decisions have been finalized. NDA's have been signed - if the VPs and Directors don't know - it's because they're on the list to get RIF.

Several TPR masters will not be renewed, and a large percentage of those locations will be closed.
Metro dealers will undergo the opposite.
Several large dealers will absorb the smaller ones.
You will see a rise in TMO/Metro hybrid locations in SMRA, but they too will have locations and closings.

Thus will be a reduction of field support and backend (ops, training etc.).

Whomever posted this doesn't know jack. Historically, layoffs are Aug timeframe, if anything happens prior I can see a possible reduction within the sales org. But widespread across multiple orgs like we just seen won't be soon.

As a frontline call center worker, near the top of my pay band and over a decade in I am ready for this ride to end. There is nowhere else to go here. If I get let go with a severance at least I will have a bit of extra cash and be able to focus full time on getting into a different career path.

This is good news. I know there are a lot of people I work with that should have been fired long ago. This is a good chance to correct that mistake.

The source is common sense. T-Mobile has layoffs constantly. At least one a year. Just surprised so quick from the last one.
