Laid off as well, interesting package and settlement. The invite is indeed business update confidential blabla. My manager was so nervous, she had to read the message from her screen.I calmed her down a bit and then the word came out: due to intensive investments and business changes..... All opportunities are blocked, all hiring reqs on hold, maybe until April. It's serious now. O wants to scale down.

Didn't Oracle get sued by DOL for hiring more Indians than Americans? That could very well happen again if they try to hire more Indians and lay off Americans.
Not true.
There are 2 facts:
AI narrative could be used an excuse to offshore some jobs to lower cost countries; we know this is happening
AI agents are real and effectively used; example: bay area startups made of a few employees out of a garage who used AI agents to do coding; and lead employees doing code reviews, testing etc… to make sure of the expected results
@gm as I track Slack totals, I see almost all additions during IDC office hours, while almost all reductions during Europe and NA timezones. Maybe it's just batch processing happening during UTC-0 nighttime, or maybe it means something.

My suggestion is that you sue her and Oracle. Leave with dignity and try to take revenge, specially if you work with customers or partners.
@a6 One thing I learned is that posting jobs in O is easy. Once you have a candidate you want to hire means you need to get the management chain to approve it.

I know there is a freeze in some organizations (manager friends have told me when I asked if they had openings), they ARE hiring in others. The person who posts headcount changes here based on Slack's #general membership shows headcount deleted and headcount added.
All this makes me wonder how much longer O is even going to be around.
Are you saying this is a recent notice, like in the last week?
