Truck advice for youngsters

After working at Ford, I thought since it would make sense to buy one after my career pivot. Never get high off your own supply, I guess. Just sold my ford truck for 14 grand, I bought it for 32 grand two years ago when the truck market was god awful, huge mistake.. salvaged title. And I put 20k into because the transmission and the transfer case went out. I got sc--wed over by my uncles friend, took it to the shop. Rented truck and the freaking trailer fell off and hit the truck, so 1400 for that, for the rental. Got sc--wed over, front drive shaft went out last winter too.

Ended up getting a ram. I love my v6. I love my ram. I subcontract all my work now, I don’t even have an f250… let’s go. I was very afraid to move on from my concrete contractor but now I’m absolutely turnkey and dump trailer for 7 grand. I lost a lot of money on that truck but I learned something. All trucks are the same. I would buy a brand new ram 2500 because they’re cheap trucks and cost the same to repair. I do not like ford. Get a warranty on your truck, get a little v6. They're all the same, really.

@c9 They might have meant they solve it as a salvaged title. Unless 32K is the going rate.. wow Ford trucks seem expensive! Repairs too

@OP... Advice for youngsters should be do not buy overpriced junk!!!

I was never interested in trucks. I like cars, preferable older ones, and compact SUVs. I see them also as a big gas expense for nothing, unless you are a contractor that really need to move materials everyday. When I need a truck, I rent it. It is cheaper to pay $200 once a year, than pay $800 a month for something I may really need once a year. Besides, if I am moving, an F-150 is not enough. I'll end renting a moving truck anyway.

The best advice I can give to youngsters is live below your means, save and invest. Youth is fleeting, and you want to reach the golden years with a big sum in the bank. One way to achieve the financial goals is not buying "pseudo" American sh!t, nor Chinese sh!t. Ford is a "pseudo" American company. Most of the components and designs are not done in America anymore, just assembling the vehicles here. Japanese vehicles have better quality, better price and they are also assembled in America. And Chinese products are sh!t, so unless you are buying something disposable, buy quality (not brand names).

Have enough of what you need, and not much of what you want. Experiences beat material things, and they don't cost much money. Stay away from social media, it is fake happiness. Many of those showing "great expensive experiences" in their profiles, are miserable in real life. It is more important to share a "blah!"experience with someone awesome, than going to a great experience with a "blah!" company.

The secret of a happy life is balance. Be happy and grateful for what you have, but also be a little bit ambitious to want and put in the effort for more. A life without goals is a wasted and sad life. Set goals in your life, pursue them and enjoy the triumphs of achieving them.
