Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

Any actual PEOPLE updates?

Seeing updates about the technology the company will be using, but nothing about when people will receive updates about jobs or locations. Isn’t closing in 2 weeks? The communication on this from leadership is completely lacking.

@15x looks like that was wrong. CTRA got
Choice positions. If you think they are staying in OKC for any long period of time, go as Expand how that worked out for them. Welcome to HTown

Looks like the taco bar at NEBU will survive after all. If you see Widetrack down there, ask him to buy a few tacos for you. He's good for it.

CTRA employees were getting too cocky saying we were moving to Midland. Reality check. Never trust a CEO... DVN culture always wins

Any surprises? Heard most of the VPs are Devon and will stay in OKC

@qh laughing because you nailed it. VP structure and layout just announced. Basically everyone staying where they’re located minus a small handful of VP’s moving to Houston. Rest of employees should hear something about 6 weeks after close.

@wc Sounds like a rumor from someone who doesn't know sh-t about fu-k. That's a class action for wrongful termination just waiting to happen. CTRA needs a documented history of poor performance, and they don't have a formal review process in place, currently. So unless someone is already on a PIP, anyone terminated in this manner would have standing to file a civil suit.

@wc+1 right there is the problem with the lack of communication. Wild rumors going around...

CTRRA rumor that after close they will start terminating, classifying as low performance, so they will not have to extend CIC packages.

The go-forward company is best positioned for the next merger if they don’t have a large staff in Houston. Most merger targets already have a large presence in Houston. It’s best for Tom and Clay to not know the faces and names of those they are disregarding with each decision

@qh Coterra ran into the same issue with Cimarex and Cabot- only a handful of people were willing to move from Tulsa to Houston.

@OP I heard Clay already knows he’s CEO

@me VPs getting offers this week supposedly. Expect announcements on that right around close. The next couple of layers within a couple weeks of close and non leaders within 8 weeks from now. Things can change but that’s about the current timeline on things. What’s delaying it is that it turns out no one wants to go to Houston from okc.

@kq I know you said it was just rumors, but any idea if department head = director and above? Or department managers, as well?

Rumor is that department heads will be named shortly after close, and that employees wil be told what job/location 6-8 weeks after

All the transparency is deafening….. would it really be a huge deal to just lay out a date as to when severance packages will be offered? What is so secretive about that?

@by They don't care about the employees. Employees are just another expense to them. They don't care about the anxiety, uncertainty or stress they are creating. Enrich the shareholders at the expense of the workers.

CTRA rumors range from a few weeks after close to mid-summer before we are told our status. They won’t address anything. People are getting anxious.

The lack of communication makes me believe that they are going to say that both entities stay separated for a while. Which is going to extend the uncertainty for everyone....
