Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Is there any point doing my appraisal?

I’ve completed my appraisal diligently every year. And every year it’s the same outcome: a “2” rating, talk of a pay rise… which then slips, slips again, and suddenly it’s appraisal time all over again. Please do your appraisal.

My role itself isn’t very fulfilling. There doesn’t appear to be much of a pipeline, yet there’s also no conversation about letting me go. I’ve applied to leave and been turned down. I don’t particularly want to become “the new guy” yet again in a technology I’ve never touched, especially when the promised training never materialises. You’re left to struggle, only to see the company later hire people who have been trained elsewhere—and happy to pay them more per month than the cost of the training course would have been in the first place. Who are bloody useless as have no business knowledge.

So I’m genuinely asking:

  • Do I decline to complete it?
  • Do the bare minimum?
  • Make a proper effort in the hope of a pay rise that never seems to come?
  • Or be completely frank and say how things actually feel?

Interested to hear how others approach this as the deadline is this week.

Put as much effort in to it as DXC do, none.

When you ask about pay, there is no answer, which is odd as March is less than a week away and if the Head of HR is to be believed, March is when the delayed from December raises will be actioned.

Of course given your ratings won't be shared till May-June, if raises even happen you won't see it till June-July, which makes a mockery of our CEO's promise of annual raises in December.

C'mon they've given up even pretending to lead, so join them and give up even pretending to care

Everybody will get a 2.

With that being said, look outside and once you get an offer, run to the exits.

You will get nothing here.

@132 Took me 15 mins to do mine. Copied last years with a touch of chatGBT to add loads of management twaddle. If anyone reads it (and I’m sure they won’t) they’ll be bored sh1tle55 as it contains a full bingo card from senior management.

Appraisals don't exist in DXC. This is just a tick bix exercise for the Execs to get their bonuses.

In all other companies i have worked in you get a pay rise after the appraisal.

In DXC you get excuses and bull$hit.

There is no point to them, thousands of wasted man hours could be saved.

I'm not doing mine and if anyone asks i will ask them to check when i last got a raise they won't be able to say anything!!!

@OP is this appraisals legally acknowledged? Last year wasn’t allowed to give 360 degree feedback to my manager who put me in ORBIT. Half yearly appraisal feedback is blank. He is racist and only cares for the roll up revenues that he accrues without any effort.
He doesn’t care about any support request since he is unsecured , coward and keeps himself below parapet.
Strange though how these guys survive, when company is going down every year. Mambler is the sick guy.

@OP complete it but do the bare minimum
This company doesn't care about you. Do your job tick the boxes and take your salary.

I uploaded just the CV template. After being ordered to ensure my CV was up to date. Clearly nobody reads it. I was going to say oh I did the wrong one. But quickly learnt it's all just about ticking that box!

Just put "NFI" in every box.

Do the bare minimum on Friday afternoon. Just cut and paste last years, change a few words/dates and tick those boxes.

DXC appriasals are about branding the employee's forehead with "2". Its to remind you every year that you're a bit too sh*t to have a pay rise.

@en "I have a WBS code and the account says they want to keep me - that's all they care about"

That really is all that matters in DXC

@e1 Seems like an easy way for the company to completely shoot itself in the foot. From what I can see, people who don’t complete it tend to fall into two groups: those who are genuinely busy delivering real work, and those who’ve concluded from past experience that the process doesn’t meaningfully change anything.

If it’s going to be made compulsory, with serious consequences for non-completion, that’s a significant stance to take. It would certainly raise questions about priorities and perception.

The difficulty is that we’re repeatedly told compensation isn’t directly linked to appraisal outcomes. That inevitably makes the process feel procedural rather than impactful. When people don’t see a tangible outcome, it’s hard to motivate thoughtful engagement beyond simply clicking through to complete it.

If the intention is for this to be meaningful, there needs to be clearer alignment between effort, feedback, and outcome. But managers haven't got a clue what's going on. I have a WBS code and the account says they want to keep me - that's all they care about.

@bm
"it's the only record that you have input to of your body of work with the company"

From a mindfulness perspective, just get this non appraisal process done as quickly as possible.

For your own mental health, don't allow these pointless DXC processes to demean you the way these pointless processes are designed to do. Always strive to find your worth outside of DXC because when you leave this dreadful place, you will always have something that DXC can never take away from you

It's a complete box ticking exercise, just like the recent AI training....it's not mandatory but is being tracked and keep getting chase emails.

The people at the top need to be on improvement plans - they aren't growing the company, just su-king it dry.

Definitely complete the appraisal and do the bare minimum. When I was a DXC Manager I would tell people it's the only record that you have input to of your body of work with the company. If you don't complete it, you put more power in the hands of employer. Sounds like your manager just takes the easy way out and gives almost everyone a 2. DXC requires a bell curve, why I don't know, it doesn't really matter because they don't really use the process effectively. The performance review process at DXC is more punitive than motivating. HR things it's a good thing which tells you how clueless they all are.

What is the point of filling it in this useless company.

Im not going to waste my time, and if the Manager want to chase me he can do one, as he wont have the ba--s to ask for a pay rise on my behalf me. You can just make us all "yes" people.

Just a bunch of a$$holes. Stick that in your appraisal.

Do the bare minimum as said so you can tick the box. Any achievements or letters you attach are used by managers to get their own raises. You can use the lowest ratings but don't put anything in writing. Managers scores are also added to for their raises.

Seriously, I'm not the least bit concerned with what the company will do if I don't complete. I've boycotted twice. HR will simply go in and tick the box that you've had the conversation with your manager. That's fraud, but I don't care.

I do care about my mgr blowing up my email, Teams, and texts to my cell, so I complete just to shut them up. My input is irrelevant, but so is his.

Do the bare minimum, click next until you get to the submit button , then hit that. Once you have the pointless conversation.with your manager tick the box, job done.

Pointless exercise, don't bother they will give you 0%.

By doing you are giving the Execs a tick in the box and they will take your rise for their pay.

People have concluded this happens every year.

Summary do not waste your time on it.

@ab They can't or at least won't and don't dismiss people for not having done it. You'll get the same rise as everyone else. Historically that's been 0%. When there is anything on offer, it's not fair to say oh you didn't click the button so get nothing, your useless colleague who did will get it all, so managers don't do that either. If you are a problem employee who's not working - they could have started the process long back. But choose not to. I guess because there aren't enough staff left. Or management don't care either!

Appraisals are forced on you to accept no pay rise - Its your fault for not working hard enough
Just do what is asked and get it over with - Think donkey and carrot.

No one gives a sh*t

No, it doesn't matter. You can Attach letters of appraisals from customers, have dozens of great feedback from coworkers, nothing is gonna change. Now I just click next, next, next, submit. I don't even read it. Not worth the time

If the company can’t recognise or retain its own talent, that’s its problem. I’m not chasing praise to persuade myself to stay. I’ve seen enough people exited overnight to know I could be next. In that context, the appraisal feels like box-ticking theatre. Where’s the option to just close it and move on?

Post ID: @a8+1kh38qtvb

No don't bother with it. I've done it, got 1 ratings for years and zero reward so I'm not playing the game any longer.
No one cares or will notice as long as you tick the box in workday that says you've had a year end conversation, that is the only point of this exercise

Keep going through the motions and complete it - do the bare minimum and don’t discuss with your manager or a colleague how you really feel - they are not on your side . If you are able, Keep taking the money for as little work as possible.
