Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

The silence is too loud

Whenever leadership goes quiet, we all know something’s brewing. And it's been very quiet lately.

@14t....nobody wants to buy the managers of the company or the overhead, but if we could sell just the AUM....you can bet the industry would line up.

@14t TIAA could sell all of its subsidiaries and many are LLCs and they can be sold.

@11b You had me going up to the last point. Due to it's unique legal structure TIAA can't be sold to another company and wouldn't get any buyers even if it could be sold.

@12b her reaction and response to that was really 😬 is it a bit corny? Yes. But I think associates truly enjoyed it and clients seemed really touched. It's a tangible/visible reminder of our mission

Mickey you couldn’t market a mushroom. Your. Comments on clap out “I’m on it” shows your disdain. You talk the talk about figure heads getting attention. You are a liability, get your Paper Right, and leave.

@OP thank you Executive Committee, your kindness in supplying Ginger Bread houses that expired in April. Instead of ‘Let them eat cake’ give them expired boxes. Kids love rotten stuff. Congrats on a luncheon for us that spent over 30 years. Lots of laughs. Thank you DiddyFerguson for drinking champagne. Baby oil gift bag. We appreciate your ability to hide. Ann’s to T, your hair looks great

@10m or I don’t know think positively.

Maybe they are not a boomer / outdated mindset like the end of RFs or beginning of TBDs reign and will allow more remote workers to retain top talent?

Maybe they figure out a way to stop employees from leaving for better companies.

Maybe they don’t spend millions on a security entourage and social media branding.

Maybe they actually finally figure out how to only layoff the lazy useless people that are coasting and doing bare minimum work or completely anti TIAA culture???

Or maybe they realize this company is near rock bottom and sell it off to another firm.

@OP For everyone who wants change at the top be careful what you wish for. A new administration will have their own set of mass layoffs and could revert to 5 days in office (like the previous administration did in 2019).

@y9 the way she was so unbothered to ever even mention the Denver closing showed me everything about her. And her “ra ra” attitude about the Accenture merger. She cares nothing about her employees. At all.

All about creating empty shell marketing campaigns, just so she can say “look what I did.” None of them have brought anything substantial back to the company, but she can spin the whole “diversity” and “retire inequality” as “look what I’m doing for the little people.”

Yet, we the little people get no raises, waste money and time driving to the office for no reason, and watch our colleagues get booted.

But at least she is stacking up awards (paid), getting custom Nikes, and buying stakes in sports team. Nothing like seeing pictures of your CEO in Europe on the company dime, for no reason at all, while people were finding out their office was shutting down

Get ya Paper Right, T

An absolute joke in $600 heels.

@y7 too little too late for me and many others. She ruined this company. Many of us can’t ever come back to TIAA even if a new CEO rights the sinking ship.

Whomever it is needs to roll back the anti remote/virtual jobs. You can’t keep good talent when forcing thousands to move to a new state for a 3 day in office week and no assigned desks.

Closing Denver - in the matter it was done while she was off galavanting… will be another stain in her tainted legacy.

multiple confirmations that “T” is on the way out.
Board lost confidence, and the exit plan is already being worked.
No announcement yet, but this sounds locked.

@OP yes right now feels like the calm before the storm... or the eye of a hurricane...
@m8 lol, which is it?
@md yeah sure, ok Boomer...
@mf 100% agree... this market su-ks I know some folks that have left on their own recently... if you can get out do so... obviously most want to wait until bonus time - for some that will be too late.

I would say if you have talent figure out another job, don't waste your time. We all know if you stay here longer, you will not get growth. The people who are not good at their work, only good at talking they are staying here.

I’m not surprised with the layoff rumors. Our latest financial results were posted online and we are still operating at a massive loss. Only a matter of time where more heads are cut.

Rumors speculating we’ll hear layoffs after Board meeting. I hope not true. But we’ll see.
