Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Is this a joke?

We made the Top 20 on Forbes' America’s Best Employers For Company Culture 2026. Company culture??? Who makes these lists? Are they paid for?

I can't figure out any other way for this to have happened. Anybody working here knows that culture has deteriorated so much over the years that it's now unrecognizable. What once was friendly environment is now incredibly toxic. And it makes No. 17 for culture? WTF???

@bk Don't forget 56 paid days off, subsidized child care, free transportation to and from work, free meals.

@kv

A numerical rating by itself is not stack ranking.

Stack ranking (or forced distribution) is a controversial performance evaluation method where managers grade employees against each other on a bell curve rather than against objective, individual standards. Typically, it categorizes staff into top (20%), middle (70%), and bottom (10%) tiers.

I haven't yet heard that Cigna is adopting this but if you have the scoop, please share.

@g3 No stacked ranking? Have you seen the recent performance model? It's absolutely stacked ranking and it forces staff into a category for sure.

@g1 FWIW, eviCore is a source of corporate misery, not the source of corporate misery.

Perhaps Cigna is just a touch better than the rock bottom worst-of- the-worst and that edges them into the #17 rank?

At least for now:

  • no 5-day in office
  • no forcing our remote workers into relocation for RTO
  • a decent severance
  • no stacked ranking
  • no cryptic PIPs to force people out without severance

Yes, there's lots of room for improvement but things are not as bad as they are at other companies.

Wild how some of y’all acted like eviCore was the sole source of corporate misery the second the announcement dropped. The way people talked, you’d think Cigna was being run by Jesus himself. Guess the honeymoon phase is over 😂

See, they told us Cigna was a great place to work and now there's proof. Please stop complaining.

ROFL, now that is truly funny..... must be only for HIH or lovely outsourcing location in India.... true story.... many team members missed daily meetings today because they had a dinner event with one of the Senior Directors who went to HIH for a little visit.... HIH is taking all the jobs.... until AI takes theirs next! Good times...

@as - Yeah, not surprising with the frequent "team dinners" and paid holidays every other week. Must be nice.
