Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

12 Hours of Impact

Anyone seen this on Workday under your Overview section? Did they send out any emails that I may have missed?

Says it’s not mandatory but “encouraged.” Translation: do it anyway

@14d point is should send an email or have managers communicate it as well.

Seems like another tactic to let go of folks who don’t toe the line.

Used to be nice to be able to volunteer out of the goodness of an individual offering any time they have available while they got a “free” PTO day out of it. But by essentially forcing people to do it will only lead to resentment and lower morale more than it already is.

I remember having to meet X number of hours volunteering in middle and high school through college. Some states/districts still require it for high school.

I’m reminded of a funny quote from the Dodgeball movie … no not that one…
"It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em."

A search of the topic on the Intranet takes you to more information about it.

@11t

Looks like they want us volunteering a recommended amount of hours this years. Similar to how BRGs are “recommended “ yet my director told me “they don’t actually recommended, they mean you better at minimum join them so they show on Workday.”

All of this will likely tie to your annual rating. Just like your days in office.

At TIAA, the talent and quality of work doesn’t matter, only that we bend at the knee
