Dear DVU colleagues & faculty members,

At DeVry University, we have the privilege to work at an organization whose purpose and mission has a profound impact on the lives of our students. I value every minute I spend with you on this good and noble work. As a team, we have accomplished a great deal over the past few years. Most notably, we successfully established DeVry as an independent University, stabilized student enrollment and returned DeVry to profitability, and are now seeing new heights in student course success and persistence! I am very proud of all the work you have done to establish a foundation upon which to carry DeVry forward.

Today, I must let you know that I have made a very personal decision to step away from my role as President and CEO of DeVry University. While this was a difficult decision for me, I am confident that this is the right time. My goal has been to ensure DeVry was on the right path before making this decision. The Board of Trustees is supportive of my decision, and together we are working on a transition plan that will assure that the University continues to make great progress. The Board will be conducting a comprehensive search to find the right leader for the future of DeVry. In the meantime, I will remain in my role through January, working with the executive team and the Board to ensure a smooth transition.

I will be communicating more about the transition plan in the coming weeks but I do ask you to keep your attention on the reason we are all here—to serve our students and each other with the passion and CARE that make DVU great! What each of you do for our students is important; what all of you do together for them is transformational. I am proud of what DeVry does, of who DeVry is, and especially proud to have been part of the DVU family. As I have said before, be proud – DeVry’s future is bright. #DeVryProud

That CBC training was infuriating. My friend, an adjunct, is the kind of guy who does what he is told and never really complains much, but he went on a tirade when we were going through that BS. DeVry actually managed to push one of the world's most patient people over the edge and that is not easy to do.

He posted this regarding the experience:

It's unprofessional to resort to an online rant when you're sick and tired of an employer's c-ap, right? OK, then I'll just settle for a polite euphemism: #DeVryProud

From the HelloTomorrow page:

Why are you #DeVryProud?

Why are you excited to be here? What drives you every day? Tell us in six words.

This is a time of unprecedented potential and possibility for all of us here at DeVry University. For more than 80 years, we’ve been dedicated to helping students achieve their education goals. As we turn the page in our history and say goodbye to the past and hello to tomorrow, we want to know why you are a proud DeVry colleague. Share your six-word affirmation, and help inspire your colleagues as we begin this new chapter together.

That's all she wrote. Frankly, one expected more...

Adtalem Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the transition of DeVry University (DVU) to Cogswell Education is complete. Cogswell Education owns Cogswell College, the second oldest operating college in California, and a regionally accredited institution offering bachelor’s degrees as well as certificate programs.

This successful transition enables DVU to further pursue its growth strategy and academic goals, and provides colleagues and faculty a fresh start, while maintaining a focus on students and their ability to achieve their career goals. We’re confident the Cogswell team will continue to serve and empower students well into the future, and we thank both DVU and Adtalem colleagues for their diligence and hard work in preparing for this transition.

In addition, on behalf of our Adtalem and DeVry University leadership teams, we want to emphasize how grateful we are for our long history together. DeVry University created the foundation of what is today Adtalem Global Education, and this letter cannot adequately convey the depth of our appreciation for each colleague who contributed to our organization over the years, positively impacting the lives of our students.

We are confident that DeVry University has a bright future as it builds on its progress and expertise in delivering tech-forward, career-focused education, and look forward to the next chapter in the institution’s storied history.

Warm regards,

Lisa W. Wardell James Bartholomew
