Topics regarding layoffs at DIRECTV

Parting ways, Sunday night ticket

It’s over guys, for those who are at the bottom toll of the seniority list expect to get layoff because DirecTV just lost the nfl network.

Expect major layoffs

The layoffs will be directly tied to the continuing decline of satellite. After next year, look for a serious break up to part ways with that side of the business, which means layoffs galore. Keep looking for other jobs. The TOG buy in was to polish... — read more

This place is sinking fast

There is no doubt that DTV is sinking very fast. I also don't see what could help DTV get back on track, but maybe someone still thinks that there is a strategy that could fix this mess?

DTV in 5 years

Purely out of curiosity, I'm interested in how you think DTV will look in 5 years.

Don't give up looking for better opportunities

Finally! Just when I thought that I won't be able to find a new job and was getting desperate, my efforts paid off. I received a very solid offer and I am happy to leave here. Does anyone else see their future here? I doubt it.

What is the line?

What is the line where we drop below the "break even" point in terms of numbers customers and the ability to fund the basic operation of this company? To the best I can discern from industry reports, we have somewhere between 11 million and 14... — read more

DTV's layoffs reputation - Concerned Data Scientist

I just accepted an offer from DTV in the data science department and looking forward to joining the company. I've read many comments here and the general consensus is that T messed up DTV's good reputation. Can anyone share what DTV was like before... — read more

Approaching One Year Separation Anniversary from ATT

There is normally a one year quiet period (no radical changes keeping everyone calm) after separating a large business segment from the parent company. Is anyone expecting policy changes or headcount rationalization after August 1st? We are 70% owned... — read more

How hard is it to make the transition?

DTV Stream is the future and I suspect the skill set is weighted towards satellite service that is waning. Maybe it's time to adjust headcount levels with emphasis on streaming service and perhaps that's why many new hires have been brought onboard... — read more

Customer retention

Losing customers is a logical sequence of events, given that the company has long neglected their wishes and needs. I just hope they will know how to effectively improve customer retention?

Why are people talking about layoffs?

As somebody else mentioned, we're currently amid a hiring spree and for a change, things have been going right for a while now. There is no reason for cuts at this point. I'm usually a glass-half-empty kind of guy, but even I have to admit that I've... — read more

DIRECTV Back on the Radar for Complete Divestiture?

WarnerMedia Discovery deal is closed. DIRECTV is 70% owned by ATT and the discussions must be how to exit completely. Is DISH the only feasible option to acquire DTV? It's touted often DIRECTV is a separate company but how is that possible when owned... — read more

What's the problem?

Increasingly, I have the impression that leadership has no desire for this company to be strong and grow, on the contrary, that leadership has become destructive. My personal opinion. Conditions are getting worse to for employees here, the... — read more

Does anyone have a clear cut picture on any benefits? They stopped taking money out of our checks for ATT savings since we spun away. Not sure on insurance. I want to sign up since I got a divorce. But not sure if that is in the works? Not even... — read more

Is Directv separate or not?

All the press reports would lead one to believe that the NEW DIRECTV is it's own entity yet again. But working for them makes me wonder how true this actually is. We still wear AT&T branded apparel, our vans still have their globe, we still use... — read more

Make no mistake, our time is limited

Ive been in some high level meetings on our 3 year plan. Lets be honest, TPG bought us for pennies on the dollar with the goal to flip us within 3 years. They are cutting costs everywhere and trying to raise profits to look better Ive seen multiple... — read more

Pension Lump-Sum Question (management)

For those MGRs who transitioned to DIRECTV and retired from AT&T (MR75 eligible) on July 31st. How long does it take to receive your Lumpsum payment? Is anyone in the process of rolling over to a Fidelity traditional IRA?

Savings

WIll ATT is done with us. Where can we do savings now? Health insurance?

The divorce is final...

so why are still living in the same house as the ex? According to all of the Bill Morrow Workplace BS and the writings of the business press, you would think that DTV is now a stand-alone company with no operational ties to the Death Star. So can... — read more

The new DIRECTV is now live

Here's my take on how the TPG deal will play out...

Here's my take, the 30% stake by tpg will result in all DirecTV employees to no longer report to AT&T, no longer receive an AT&T paycheck, no longer have AT&T health benefits, 401K match, pension plan, etc. Tpg is going to have a new senior... — read more

Layoffs to be expected?

Please End The Misery at DirecTV Part 2
