Here's my take, the 30% stake by tpg will result in all DirecTV employees to no longer report to AT&T, no longer receive an AT&T paycheck, no longer have AT&T health benefits, 401K match, pension plan, etc. Tpg is going to have a new senior leadership team from CEO down. I seriously doubt they are going to be paying technicians CWA union wages at $32 an hour. They most likely will be laying off the existing installation technicians and rehiring on a contract basis. IMO of course, however not too far off the realm of reality.

You can bet your bottom dollar T is giving them employee names and job positions to get rid of. Also your manager and/or director is busy documenting expendable people. I'm guessing 2-3% of the DTV/U-verse workforce will be shown the door.
They already announced 401k and health benefits will be hanging around. So you're already off to a rough start.
My thought is workforce adjustments. I work maybe 3–4 hrs a day and there are 2 people at my site with the same title as me. They have agreed to honor the current contracts but after that look out.
