SWEATSHOP!!!

I just joined Suncor a month ago and they have been great so far. After 5 years at Cenovus and after the merger, looking back it is a true sweatshop now in comparison. Suncor treats ex-Cenovus staff like gold and they feel bad for the cr-p they... — read more

Message From Alex (II)

JOHN: The price of WTI dipped below $80. The $hit we produce is mid $50s. ALEX: We need to reduce our costs. Our headcount is still to high. JOHN: But we can't afford to pay people out. ALEX: Not a problem. Between the mediocre bonus, paying... — read more

Just Tradition Will Be Bo-m To Oilsands

What a joke. AP the lawyer who graduated in 1989 knows zero about the bo-m of the 1980's. "If we're successful in doing that, that is going to create a bo-m in the oil-producing provinces that is equivalent to what happened in the '80s and the... — read more

Message from Alex - Please Quit

John, what can we do to make people leave? Alex, when you break it down the basics, it’s quite simple. First, let’s bring them all back to the office and treat them like children. Let’s monitor their scans and mouse clicks and let them know we’re... — read more

Another Day - Another Dollar

As we enter our third week of mandatory four days in the cubicle, I have to ask my colleagues, what percentage of your day is productive time? Last week for me it was under 30%.

The New WFH Policy is a Groundbreaking Initiative

The new 4 Day office policy comes straight from the top. AP conceived it expecting it will breed loyalty to CVE through attrition. Those who don't agree will resign thus helping achieve staffing numbers without expensive payouts. It doesn't matter... — read more

People who prefer cubicles

I don't believe there is a single person who prefers to waste time and energy to come work in an office. Is there anyone?

Can you vote an entire exec off the island?

Oh and CVE is an island. Completely detached from reality and senior leaders and exec heads stuck where the Sun don’t shine. Today we had to listen to one colorful exec talk down to the team for 45 minutes and the funniest thing is he has no idea... — read more

Vacation

Here's something interesting about Cenovus generous vacation policy. If you work an 84 hour week and are under 30 with 5 years at the company then you don't meet the minimum vacation entitlement under the law. 6% of your wages and 3 weeks off, since... — read more

Q3 Layoffs

There is a rumour circulating that certain groups will receive e-mail on Monday to work-from-home Tuesday September 27th. Apparently there are some managers with too few reports (ie 4 or 5) so these groups will be amalgamated.
