What locations could be impacted next?

I know it’s hard to tell, especially in this situation where layoffs and furloughs are happening left and right, but is there any talk or rumors regarding where layoffs could strike next and what locations could be impacted?

Proviso is a circus right now.

Flat switching is going horrible right now. Venas contract needs to get terminated. Conductors furloughed. More Carmen furloughs are coming soon. This is a hump yard. No way around it. Automate the hump and let us railroad!!! You got rid of that... — read more

It's not to late

What ever happened to the people that would know how to run the company that started from the bottom and worked there way up . After all that's how America became strong . Not some CEO that never worked for the railroads.

Why not retire if you can?

I never understand why people who are eligible to retire just keep hanging around. And most of them are always complaining about the conditions too. We had a coworker who retired and actually takes home more per month on retirement with the two... — read more

Not looking forward to earnings report

I realized there is really nothing for us to look forward to on July 18. There is no best case scenario for us here - no matter how well or badly Union Pacific is doing, the answer will always be layoffs. The only thing we can guess is how bad... — read more

Nlr

Nlr is by far the best hump yard and servicing facility on the system. The numbers do not lie!

Why is it being handled differently this time?

In the last round of layoffs director and MM2 furloughed in seniority order. Multiple CDL/DOT qualified members held support track jobs but were furloughed anyway! Why is it being handled differently this time?

PSR 2020

Am I to assume that on or after 2020 this will be over and the company will be satisfied? And whats with the managers threatening to lay off more people when they assume everyone is laying down on them? How would that even get productivity up? Like... — read more

More productive is not going to save your job

You really think being more productive is going to save your job. It's a money game. The only way that they'll stop with these layoffs is if that stock price go down. What sense does it make to layoff people when you're not getting your numbers and... — read more

Who are Managers managing?

They keep laying off employees who actually do the work but keep all the Managers, Directors. It is getting that each Manager is managing two employees. Now that s efficiency! Makes no sense?

Union Pacific is THE worst company to work for

Where to start? Management is so out of touch with reality it is embarrassing. They spend so much money training you , then spend the rest of your career trying to fire you. They hire people straight out of college that have never worked the job... — read more

Cheyenne car dept

Safe! Best numbers in the region. Only lost 1 carman, keeping all the foremen and foreman general. Denver might be losing more today though

NLR Jenks is SOLD!

Some will read this and make fun of it and that's ok, but If you are smart you will listen and pass it along. FRITZ was in NLR and met with the highest of highs within your unions and management. He laid out his plans and intentions to them all. If... — read more

The latest update

Well it looks like Fritz is already on the campaign trail, looking for a career in politics when he steps down as ceo later this month.

Are any other crews working to the verge of human possibility?

Don't know about you, but I’m a long time employee, and I’ve never seen such quantities of work that has been dumped on us. This is the worst situation we’ve been in since I can remember. Do any of the other crews face the same troubles?

Wow!!

Would any of you return to UP?

If given a chance, would you come back? I can't imagine wanting to be back here under any circumstances if I was finally free from this place, but some of my former coworkers keep hoping they'll get a call to return at some point in time. Do more... — read more
