I was laid off after 2 years with the company. I was very proud to say I worked for slb to be honest. It was a little embarrassing having to come home when so many people at home thought so highly of my new job. But I'm surprised of how well I took the lay off. I don't have any disrespectful words for the company other than I wished they would have not been so blunt in the lay off process. I bust my butt doin ilearns and quest to be ahead of my class just to get laid off in the first round. I was sure of my self and my competency on the job. I broke out in 7 months, I only did two jobs before I was running on by myself. My manager threw me out to the wolves and I survived it and then went to school. When lay offs come he puts me in the first round draft picks to be let go. I wish people the best. Especially those that were let go that have been here for decade or more.

Only two years?. You really have no reason to be upset. I and a lot of others chocked the blue pill down. But like someone already said, best thing to happen. I found a non oilfield job five days after I got the axe best possible thing. Now I see that the whole work and life thing are good..
That's very big of you to have nothing negative to say. I however, have a lot of negatives to say about slb. The way they have gone about the layoffs is horrible; a few at a time, leaving those still there ( for now) feeling like "Dead man walking." Screw schlumberger!

Sob laid me off in the late 90's. Best thing that ever happened to me. Harsh market back then, this one is different as the oil price reduction is not directly supply and deman. Slb gave me a solid footing to find a niche. Am with another major service provider in mgmt and hoping for the best. Slb is the global trainer, hope you can take some learnings with you.
It takes about 3 years to start noticing things that do not work well, it takes about 5 years to become disgruntled, and after let's say 7 years you enter the state of permanent anger
It's pretty well known that Schlumberger bought Pathfinder to eliminate competition. Pathfinder and many engineers were destroyed on purpose. Not speculation. A high level manager who was laid off there told me.
