Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Slb is nothing more than a resume booster

Slb should only be a company to get ahead of people who haven't worked for slb. If you got laid off just deal with and get ready to move to a smaller company that will pay more for you. I worked fpr slb with the expectation of working for three years and going to another company (mom and pops). I was offered more money and bonus in 2 years. It's all about the money in the oilfield. Loyalty is not the name of the game. Sace as much money as possible and move to regular 9-5 back home and live your life. Hope everyone that was laid off follows this next job you get if you return to the field. Good luck all.... And to the slb employees (managers) f*** off

More than quite a few people play the 9-5 game and they are still here. Most don't even work 30-35 hours a week.

Hahaha - there are many who play this game in Schlumberger by towing the party line in words but in reality totally disconnected from being productive for the company.

Much more than they think.

When was the last time SLB surveys their employees to see what they really think about the company? They don't dare do it because HR is scared to find out what the result would be. They don't have one of the highest employee attrition rates in the industry for nothing !

Very true. I took the same approach with them and just focused on getting as much money as I could out of them during the last few years once I realized how they were going to screw me at some point. I came in at 9 am and left at 5 and turned my cell phone off at weekends and picked up a few bonuses and a nice severance. With the spare time I was able to start my own business on the side (non oilfield) which I am now focusing on until the oil price storm blows over.

They actually thought I would be sad to be laid off when they told me but in reality it was a huge relief to get out of there. Now the SLB name is on my CV and is helping me with my next position. Overall it's been a financially beneficial relationship for me 😊😊😊

My advice to others would be to play them at their own game and screw them for all you can before they do it to you!
