I'm a reporter covering the energy industry for the Houston Chronicle and am interested in speaking to current/former employees about how Schlumberger has handled these layoffs. If you reach out to me, I don't need to use your name. My number is 713-362-3568.

While you are doing your research on people, try figuring out why the Society of Petroleum engineers (www.spe.org) year after year reports average annual petroleum salaries that are twice what you find on the Bureau of Labor Statistics, glassdoor.com, indeed.com, payscale.com, etc. The SPE's inflated "statistics" suck newcomers into an industry that's uncaring. The SPE is self-serving. There is something wrong with the SPE and someone should report on it.
This is why these VPs and Sr Managers do everything they want to. Perhaps they even have own hackers on staff to track down here.
if I were to express a view in Schlumberger that goes against the prevailing management view then I would not have a job for very long. I disagree with many things our managers do but I value my job so keep my views personal
Freedom of expression is valued but only to a certain extent
The right to freedom of expression is recognised by many organisations. There is nothing wrong in that. SLB does not do anything unusual. Business is business. The way how some things are being handled require attention to improve the quality of internal processes. Checking on some of the posters especially those related to MI SWECO, it leaves no doubt in that. Sorry about these poor people and wish that the management mentioned in the posts be severely reprimanded to set precedence once and forever.
Good Journalists are great, they help flow of information, it's up to you to use what you like or dont like. Bad journalists smudge the fact, a good journalist has integrity and if you follow the fellow you'll notice that he's been around for a while and that his Oil industry coverage is probably the best out there. And, why would he be a parasite? We all yearn to know, need info and search for it - he's just providing what we need in a quality way in my opinion. I am not affiliated with the Chronicle or any jouranlist but I do have great appreciation for many of them.
journalists are scum. smudge the facts. break promises. cherry pick quotes. ignore this parasite
