Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Design Engineer

Many years at this monster.

When I went there in 1999 I knew better due to input over the years as I worked for other companies prior.

Low pay for number one.

I went to rumored better group/location.

I had heard good or better things about Gun Development.

I had already quit Sugar Land years prior.

Very heavy Management.

Bunch of knucleheads that do nothing but go to meetings.

Of course there are some good managers in this world but very few at this place.

More and more management over the years.

More and more meetings go with that.

All and All........I made it for years there but I had exceptional circumstances then I arrived.

The new folks think they are smart and have it made.

Seen a few of the smart ones go out the door!

Seen a few go I could not figure why.

Seen a lot stay I could not figure out why.

Basically.....If you are not there any more....Best for you.

I have worked many smaller companies and many as large or even bigger//////BETTER.

They spend many days convincing employees they are the best.

They are not the best for many reasons. Technology is behind many.

Mentality can be compared to no other.

They suck....Big Blue is the pits.

I worked for them for 35 plus years and I saw some good ones go and some worthless ones stay. It didn't make sense then and I doubt it makes sense now. During my tenure with SLB I loaded perforating guns for about 13 years. It was mostly enjoyable and sometimes challenging. They cut me a couple of years ago and I've recovered from it, albeit I'm still not happy with them. But life goes on and the focus is on me and not them. It's a healthier way to travel the road of life I believe. I'd never recommend working for them to anyone. You will do well. Keep a positive attitude. Good luck.
