Midland H2S was the division
What division were you in? What part of the comapny did you work for? What part of the country. It helps to get an idea of what they are cutting.
There will be more to come as they will spend 200M$ for restructuring.
I was laid off from SLB yesterday. We too had a lot of work and projects and in the previous few months had brought in numerous people. While in the middle of trying to get a lot of things done in order to meet timelines for the very high profile project, got the call to walk down the hall to HR and was given papers. It was in the middle of the afternoon and was not allowed to even stay a couple hours extra to ride home with the person I rode to work with. After putting stuff in boxes, instead of having the cab meet me on the end of the building where my desk was, I was frog marched from one end of the building to the other carrying boxes where hundreds could see me talking that walk. That for over a decade of bleeding true blue. Very unprofessional. Further, by doing the layoffs just before EOY, the company weasels out of paying the 2014 bonuses. Bravo, way to be true snakes. The irony of these knee jerk layoffs is why companies quickly let people go and have to pay severances and unused vacation, then in a few months when things rebound they scramble to hire more people when they would have better off to use the money to pay people to work instead of going home. They'll wonder why they don't deliver on the projects. Same reactions and decisions over and over.
