Thread regarding Follett layoffs

More trips to India - this ship is going down.

IT directors going to India again to tour the offsite vendors, where our jobs are going. I think we know which IT teams jobs will be the first to go.

So disheartening to work for a company that has no regard for their well being.

Eliminating employee positions through out the company only to spend money on needless trips.

IT employees, every project I am working on now with IT has Indian representation. It is obvious where your job is headed. Don't be naive.

Agreed about ORPOS why fire/layoff a managers (and others) with experience in rollouts of a little short of a thousand stores to not even have a cost saving in salary, just the opposite they are paying more(why??), and hire someone inexperience is beyond anyone in the IT departments comprehension.

What exactly do you do when you visit a development shop in India? What them code? Face to face discussion of methodology? Vacation?

SS supposedly had expertise in this area. Which equates to overseeing PMp projects remotely, speaking the language would his strongest skill set. If they hired a new high salaried position to for the same responsibility it would be based on the recent projects either not meeting expectations due to lack of skills by the provider or lack of PMP skills sets by the lead on the projects. Smart evaluation and analysis may determine a skill set needed requires knowledge of the core business process and relationship within the industry.

But he did lead the outsourcing of IT at his last company. That is the experience SS and ML were looking for.

ORPOS was headed up the new store systems director brought in by SS. Of course the director has never done a POS rollout before so the results aren't surprising.

ORPOS defines outsourced work quality. That piece of shit (POS) was shut off prior to the start of rush, and they are just now talking about turning it back on. No news stores added to ORPOS rollout until after 4/1/15. A year after it was "delivered"

Based on direct contact, the new IT directors hired recently have no desire to work with American workers. Isn't that clear yet? Seriously, how many times do our new IT dirs. need to lie for their offshore friends about the status of a project or deliverable in order for the rest of us to understand who they are working for really? I was in a meeting recently where we almost completely decided the wrong direction, because a new Director didn't tell us about a feature that was supposed to be available now. We would have rewritten the whole thing. Why didn't he tell us? The offshore team didn't have it working and had no idea when they would - but were way late on delivery....who is our Follett director standing up for? Infosys.

They should think this through as Ayman Al-Zawahri, Al-Queda number 1 man has his sight set on India and other South Asia countries, trusting all data to go through those areas may be high risk.
